My preferred weekend brunch is dim sum, though sometimes i indulged in the overpriced western breakfast brunches in cafes.
My usual spots are Yuen Garden at SS2 and Jin Xuan at Uptown Damansara; both being relatively near and serves whole day dim sum.
For quick fixes, the dim sum at Sheng Kee Dessert House. 1U satisfies with its plump siew mai, prawn dumplings and the BBQ pork bun (char siew pau).
But after months of the same old places, I got bored of the usual dim sum joints around PJ area.
One weekend I decided that a drive to Dim Sum Dolly is warranted, after seeing some pretty images online and reading some articles about their offerings.
The venue is pretty for sure, though ridiculously hot by 11.30am. We love the sunshine but what happened was the area was too open and the air conditioning wasn’t powerful enough to cool the place down.
You could literally feel the sun burning into your skin.

We saw some guests requesting for table change and moved themselves to corners that are shaded. We didn’t, since we weren’t going to linger long.
Food was barely above decent for the price.
The prices are comparable to hotel dim sum, and compared to similar priced pork free dim sum in restaurant within the vicinity like Celestial Court and MinMax, Dolly was way below grade.

Prawn chee cheong fun (RM11.00 ++). Skin was thick but there are prawns within its folds, though in small pieces and not many.
The cappuccino is RM11.50++ !
Prawn dumplings (RM9.50 ++). Not bad.
Beef Ball. RM8.50++.
Moist and springy enough though slightly too salty for me.
Sze Chuan dumplings. (RM9.50++).
All you see here are the folds of dumpling skin right? Well, that’s about all we tasted as well.
There were barely any meat fillings in each dumpling.
Crystal Prawn Dumpling. (RM9.50++). Ordinary.
