A stroll away from my home in TTDI, Dotty’s is one of the new cafes on the block.
However, I only knew of it when my good friends Preya and Jayne sent me a salted egg yolk CRONUT today!
Priced at RM11, this pastry is heavy; both in weight and in richness.
While we can’t deny that they were generous with the custard, we would have preferred the custard to be heavier on the salted egg yolk taste.
There were some chunky salted egg yolk pieces embedded in the sauce, but frankly it doesn’t add much flavour to the custard.
In conclusion, the custard was thick, creamy and sweet but lacking in salted egg yolk richness. The pastry layers are greasy too.
Overall I didn’t like this cronut much.
Still, it is an interesting variant of the current craze for everything with salted egg yolk sauce.
You might want to try it to draw your own conclusion.
