Kenny Rogers Roasters launches Dynasty Chicken Set and 3 delightful milkshakes!
We can all usher in the Chinese New Year in our own little ways.
While the 8 course traditional set dinners/lunch are the norm, there are numerous F & B outlets that capitalises on the festive seasons and launched their creative versions of festive offerings.
These outlets cleverly utilises the symbolic ingredients of the festival, for example cinnamon and raisin for Christmas, dates and rendang for Raya and mandarin oranges for Chinese New Year.
Kenny Roger Roasters 2012 CNY muffins is one example.
I’m a huge fan of KRR’s muffins, especially the banana one. Their mandarin orange version debuted last year and it’s back for 2012!
The moist muffin is best eaten hot, and it’s citrusy bouquet evokes the reminisce of jovial and loud cheer synonymous with Chinese New Year.
Oh, not to mention the din of Chinese New Year songs that’s played on the loop in the malls to the wet markets and coffee shops. Yes people, Chinese New Year is upon us!!
There’s a CNY version of KRR’s famous Rotisserie-roasted quarter chicken as well. The chicken is marinated with a natural blend of herbs, spices and citrus zest, and then topped with a spicy, sweet and sour sauce with pineapple chunks.
Very Oriental yea?
The Dynasty Chicken comes complete with three (3) side dishes of your choice and a Golden Orange Muffin.
My Kenny Rogers meal below: Chicken breast for me! High in protein and low in fat
As usual my sides are the coleslaw (wish I could lessen the amount of mayo in it), fresh fruits and herbs potatoes wedges for some healthy carbs.
But the rest of the table opted for the thigh of course. Drumsticks are always yummier right?
We complemented our meal with one of the three NEW milkshakes by KRR – Choc Fun, Berrynana and Double Choc.
My first query was “Is it low fat?”. ![]()
Well, it’s not of course. 90% of the public would probably not appreciate low fat milkshakes anyways. I ordered a Berrynana, telling myself if it’s rich might as well make it count with fruits right?
Well I’m happy to report that it wasn’t cloyingly rich yet fused with considerable amount of fruitiness. Though real fruits wasn’t in the recipe, I really liked it! We sampled the Choc Fun – essential vanilla + chocolate and the Double Choc (multiplied chocolate ecstasy here!) as well and concurred that the trio of new milkshakes from Kenny Rogers are recommendable.
All of the above will debut on 9th Jan 2012. It’s seasonal so if you’re in Kenny Rogers, do opt for the new flavour and let me know if you like it! Meanwhile their signature black pepper and original flavour are still on the menu of course.
