As someone who has actually driven a Volvo before (you can read about my V60 driving experience HERE + HERE and the XC60 drive HERE + HERE), I have a personal interest in Volvo cars.
One can’t deny the luxury, superior safety innovations and superb driving experience that Volvo are known for.
Last year I witnessed the launch of the Volvo V60. This year; here I present to you the All New Volvo V40! 😉
Three models were showcased to the public; the All-New Volvo V40 T4 and the All-New Volvo V40 T5, along with the All-New Volvo V40 Cross Country, a variant with more rugged, sportier features.
BELOW: Keith Schäfer, Managing Director of Volvo Car Malaysia together with Mr. Lee Ming Tiong, Sales Director of Volvo Car Malaysia launched two new models for the Malaysian market: The All-New Volvo V40 and the All-New Volvo V40 Cross Country.
Price: RM173,888 for the V40 T4 model, RM188,888 for the T5 model.
The All-New Volvo V40 Cross Country is an expressive, rugged version of the dynamic All-New Volvo V40, priced at RM198,888.
The newly launched models are considered competitively priced, for they came equipped with technology that would normally come at a much higher cost. In addition, the Volvo comes with best in class coverage; 5 years free servicing, inclusive of parts, 5 years free warranty and 5 years Volvo On-Call cover provides hassle-free motoring for all new Volvo owners.
Volvo cars are notably famous for its safety features and with the launch of the All-New Volvo V40 several new high-tech features alongside the full complement of safety technologies from the older Volvo models takes a further step towards the Volvo Safety Vision; which is that no-one is seriously injured or killed whilst travelling in a new Volvo car by 2020.
That is a really marvelous vision. Now if only all of us can afford a Volvo! 😀
I really did like the V60 (more than the XC60 for sure) but this V40 does looks better. I’m a sucker for sleek, curvy cars. The dashboard was just as I remembered it; graphical, digital and very intuitive.
The All-New V40 is the first Volvo that features a list of new innovations namely:
1. Enhanced Blind Spot Information System (EBLIS) – for better visibility
2. Cross Traffic Alert – covering your back (as below)
3. City Safety – now active up to 50 km/h. This is one of my favourite feature – a Volvo car has the ability to automatically brakes if the driver fails to react in time when the vehicle in front slows down or stops – or if the car is approaching a stationary vehicle too fast.
4. Full set of crash safety features – including new knee airbag
5. Park Assist Pilot – making parallel parking easy
6. Low and wide front design
7. Wide shoulder and dynamic profile
8. Interior – designed around people
9. Fully graphic display
ADDITIONAL FEATURES includes:
In control via the steering wheel, steering with precise response, smooth powershift transmission and more.
Do head to a Volvo Car sales and service centre for a test drive to find out more on all these features listed above. I’m not going to regurgitate the whole information from the sales brochure.
If I do have the opportunity to test drive one, you know you’ll hear from me! Meanwhile, enjoy the pictures. 🙂

Nice car! I like the blue V40
the cars look splendid, but gosh, they each cost more than my apartment (well, almost)! heheh 😀
Volvo is certainly a class of its own. But not quite grabbing a market share here in Msia as compared to Audi, Beemer or the Mercedes.
Let’s hope the new MD does a better job for the brand.
Both looks good but the rugged one does bring out the adventurer in me. I hope it’s comfortable for really long drives.
I think a Volvo suits you!
Beware of the fuel consumption though.
Good looking car. The S80 is a really comfort ride, my friend owns one and I do hop into his ride regularly for late drinks.
