Being an independent woman that I am, I’ve been managing my personal finances for decades. Lately, money management became a concern as 2014 has been a huge turning point for me.
Instead of one company I now run a few.
Instead of just online advertising, I have a couple of partners now and we have expanded our company profile. I added journalism and book writing to my portfolio; on top of full time blogging. Next could be a fashion business.
So, as I went through my financial statements with my accountant preparing for taxation this year, I realized it’s time to be serious about FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT!
Surfing around online I stumbled on this site and found it to be very informative and its’ articles easy to digest. You can check it out here –> http://www.practicalmoneyskills.com
But the really interesting part is this “Visa Financial Football Malaysia 2014” contest. Or shall I say the PRIZE is the factor why I’m so keen to learn more about financial literacy? 😀
This is actually Visa and Malaysia’s Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency (AKPK)’s second year of collaboration to deliver financial education and to give Malaysians the chance to win a trip to the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ in Brazil.
The 2014 Financial Football Malaysia online competition is accessible through www.my.financialfootball.com as well as through AKPK and bank partners’ websites.
The contest has already started and participation are welcomed till 16 April 2014.
The top ten scorers will be invited to compete at the Grand Final on 23 April for a chance to win the trip to Brazil.
Who are eligible to enter? Well, all Malaysians aged 18 and above, permanent residents of Malaysia, or those who hold a Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) status!
So now, how to PLAY?
Ready be be tested on your financial skills with this fast-paced, multiple-choice question game?
The updated game, which features improved graphics and additional questions tests players’ money management skills as they advance down the field and try to score. Educators can use the study modules to help students get ready for gameplay.
Step 1: Register here –>
Step 2: Get ready to start.
Click on ‘Play the Game’ and select ‘Single Player’
Yes, there are different levels of difficulties (one can certainly play this many times!) and you can play with your partner or friends too!
Depending on your “stamina”, select the duration.
Team MALAYSIA of course. 🙂
Opposition team. Let’s just choose our neighbour.
Alright, almost there.
Just like on the pitch; toss a coin!
Step 4 : Ok, game on!
Step 5: This game is pretty interactive. Even at this stage you can opt for the easy challenges or the tough ones.
Step 6 : So here goes, answer the questions as fast you can because if you have selected 5, 10, 20 or 30 minutes (as shown earlier), you would have to attempt to answer as many questions as possible and collect your points.
I realized that the longer the game time, the better chances of winning more goals! And of course, besides answering & enhancing my financial knowledge at the same time!
I scored a goal for Malaysia!
After posting my score, I saw this. Not bad, there are a lot of people trying their luck in this game already!
In case you’re wondering how are the scores determined, here’s what I found:
So go on playing and try to get higher scores each time.
Visa will organize a Grand Final after the Contest Period ends, inviting the top 10 entries with the highest scores to participate in the Grand Final. The individual with the highest score will win a trip for two to the 2014 FIFA World Cup Round of 16 in Brazil.
Heck even if you’re not the Grand Prize winner, you’ll win something if you’re the top 10 finalists.
The 2nd to 5th placed finalists will each win Sony and Adidas merchandise.
The 6th to 10th placed finalists will each win an Adidas merchandise pack.
Not top 10? It’s ok, console yourself with a savings certificate worth RM1,000!
Weekly Prizes
The entry with the highest score each week will win an BSN Premium Savings certificate (BSN Sijil Simpanan Premium) worth RM1,000.
