Part 2: This post will cover another 2 zones from the 7 zones of Universal Studios Singapore, the Hollywood and New York.
New York and Hollywood are basically the 1st 2 zones that you will pass as you walk in from the entrance.
Take a quick peep at this video, it will give an idea of the ambiance and surroundings of the place like no pictures would!
Very merry isn’t it?
Loud music, hustle and bustle atmosphere, loads of people, scenic street lined with very realistic buildings; where even the pavement you walk on are designed exactly like if you are indeed in Hollywood.
So, if you are wondering what is Universal Studios Singapore is all about, I can tell you it is about the experience. Like any other theme parks, it is a cool place for families, friends & couples to enjoy precious time together & to just relax and have fun. ;-).
Ok, here goes, the tons of pics I took…
This feels so American to me, popcorn and hot dogs vendors at the ‘street side’.
Theaters of the old times..
Lunch was at Mel’s Drive In, my default choice simply cos they got burgers!! Hehe..
And since it is a drive-in, it made sense to have cars in front..any idea what model are these cars?? All I can think of is “vintage”…
I just got to do the car model wannabe pose 😉 .
No pork burgers so I settled for the Big Chilli Burger, Mel’s famous thick vanilla milkshake and my set came with thick chunky fries. Total: SGD10.60.
Much much better than McD’s no doubt, but I still find MOS burger patties juiciest compared to other fast food chains. No complains on the condiments though, plenty of veg, gooey cheese and pickles thrown in for measure. Mel’s milkshakes are seriously thick but was a bit too sweet for me. The thick cut fries were perfect fluffy crabs.
Mel’s Drive Thru – reminiscene of the rock and roll era with juke box, large disc and psychedelic coloured chairs and tables.
Below: More on the beautiful buildings. If you appreciate architecture, these buildings are indeed a sight for sore eyes.
As you walk around, don’t be surprised if you bump into some celebrity. Just be a papparazi and snap some pics! LOL.
This feels British to me instead..those brown long chairs at the side walk, with the quaint tea house behind. Very London no?
The Subway..
Glitzy, extravagant premier shows..
Dandy hats can be found here at the Brown Derby. Even the round roof reminds me of the bowler hat.
Lights Camera Action! By Steven Spielberg in Hollywood Zone.
Just Louis’s Pizza, for some authentic New York pizza. This is in the New York zone, of course.
In conclusion, the New York and Hollywood zone is great for a leisurely stroll & for those who appreciate picturesque environment.
I find it a good prelude to the rest of Universal Studios, as both of these zones are right at the main entrance after you pass the ticketing booths. It helps to have your Universal Studios experience starting from a relaxed mode to then gradually move on to the rest of the zones which are more action-oriented with rides and other attractions.
Next post: The Sci Fi Zone, where the world fastest/scariest and tallest ride is due to open soon!

I was desiring to see more how they supervise the dispute of seeking to break in and live a regular life which I imagine up to the first major crisis it does deal with to some extent. But after that life outward to the mangaka cosmos appears to be dismissed. Possibly thats the resolution, that this domain is all consuming.
