Tiger Lily: Affordable and delicious Thai food in DC Mall, Damansara City!

DC Mall at Damansara City is slowly coming to life.

We were there to support a friend’s venture last week and we took the opportunity to explore the mall.
There is no cinema nor gym and the anchor tenant seems to be Village Grocer. Next year, five-star Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara will be welcoming visitors with 312 exquisite rooms and suites.

This area looks set to be vibrant soon.

For now, the building is quiet and empty and only a handful of eateries and businesses are open.
Parking isn’t free (in case some of you think it may be since it is not officially”opened yet“), the air conditioning cold and the floors dimly lit.

Thankfully, we had a recommendable bowl of tom yum to warm us up.

At RM16.90 the “Tom Yum Seafood Claypot with Rice, Thai Fried Egg, Pineapple Salad and Crackers” possesses enough oopmmhhh to keep my partner satiated.

It was a good portion with plenty of mushrooms, a mid sized prawn and a few pieces of squid. The egg was competently fried (not overly laden with grease) and the tangy pineapple salad enjoyable with its sweet, sour nuances.

My Pattaya Fried Rice with pineapple salad and crackers (RM9.90) was a good deal!
The omelette wrapped over the generous rice was so thick that I reckon there are at least 3 eggs used. Furthermore the rice was fried with egg. And I counted 5 – 6 chunky squares of chicken meat so it was truly a value for money meal at RM9.90.

A single pax meal starts from RM9.90 (pad thai, noodles with chicken, fried rice), appetisers from RM3.90 (spring rolls, wanton dumplings) and a hot black coffee was just RM3.00 and the chendol is RM4.90.
Non-spicy kids meal are RM9.90.

Coffee was strong and thick. Sadly the Red Ruby (RM7.90) wasn’t up to expectations that day.

Overall a meal or a drink here is cheaper than an average hipster cafe and the food is better too.
And yes, the decor is Instagrammable (in case you’re wondering), WIFI was blazing fast and there are power points near each table.

The 2 of us ordered the single portion meals as well, there were only the 2 of us.

I must say that our meal left us with a strong impression and we would gladly return for more.
For an outlet located in a mall and for the portion as well as taking into consideration the quality of ingredients, Tiger Lily is a sound choice for a good meal if you’re in the Damansara Heights vicinity.
