Lately, I noticed that a lot of people have been sharing a series of video clips on Facebook about a talking cat. One of their videos has even garnered almost 7,000 hits in just 10 days!
[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6X9TXqEDkc&feature=relmfu]Although I utterly despise am not a fan of cats, due to the amount of attention the videos have garnered, my curiousity was piqued.
Heck, I’m always up for sniffling out anything potentially “viral” due to the nature of my job.
It was a well made video; credit to be given where’s its due. Hopping over to the site, I was slightly out off by the flash but navigation and loading of pages were quick and easy so I guess a competently designed flash site still works.
The layout was designed rather cleverly too. They went along with the detective theme with the case file, magnifying glass, and notebook displayed on a floor with cracked tiles.
The description of the website below the header says, “Feline tales about bumps on the floor, cracks on the walls, and the little horrors of home life.” So, I am guessing that the Curious Cat website isn’t just a normal site which was created by college students for their class project work. Hmm. I’m sure the people behind it will reveal themselves soon.
Meanwhile I clicked around, and noticed the on and off light switch button at the top right corner of the page. I clicked on it, and to my surprise, the whole page actually dimmed down!
And here’s one of the fun part! When the light switch is on “OFF” mode, if you are to click on anywhere on the page, a glow-in-the-dark cat paw print will appear! I admit that feature did got occupied for a few seconds as I was just clicking on random spots on the page just to see the paw prints appear. Lol.
On the side of the notebook, you can click on any of the 3 tabs there.
If you proceed to click on the tab with the title, “Curious Characters”, a pop-up will appear within the site, and you can read about the introduction of the titular character, Curious, as well as a couple of other characters which appeared in the videos.
You can find all of the Curious Cat video series in the “Curious Vlog” tab
I must admit the copywriting was pretty good. The dialogue’s witty and some successfully solicited a loud laugh from me while a few made me grin rather gleefully. This site definitely managed to capture the attention of its readers and viewers.
If you fancy some catty humour, hit the “Curious Reports” tab. You’ll find all the pictorial and written reports of Curious Cat “blogging” about his life here.
Based on date stamp on the Curious Reports, it seems like it is updated every couple of days, so you can check it out often for updates!
But all in all, there isn’t much information on what the Curious Cat website really is about .They have a Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/curiouscatdotmy as well but even after checking their FB page out, I am still clueless!
Has anyone else checked out the site yet? Do drop a comment if you’ve figured it out! I am really intrigued by this. My guess is that this cat has got something up its whiskers. LOL!
i like cats! if only i lived in a landed house, i’d probably own both a cat and a dog 😀
Cat and a dog? Wow.. I hate cats 😛
I was never a fan of cats until one in particular ‘adopted’ me. And now, she’s boss in my house. =.=
Hhahah! Guess sometimes we don’t get to choose, but instead became the “chosen one” huh? 😀
Cats and home decor. Doesn’t gel but have to say it’ original. Like yourself, never a fan of flash but this was cleverly done.
I’m curious as a cat (pun intended) as to what’s the objective of this.
Same here Martin 😛 Same here!
It has enjoyable content, but the objectives, me thinks has something to do with home improvement I’m sure!
Real catty humour indeed 😛
Will follow his “adventures” and see where’s this leading..
I’m following as well, curious as cat myself 😛
OMG! 23,878 views as of this morning!
Googled and saw your site. Interesting that you’re blogging about it. I’m a cat lover, and I find the cat absolutely adorable!
I did wonder what was it about…thought it was created just for fun.. though yeah, that’s not likely since the site looked quite professionally done. Just been revealed that MML – a tile company is behind this all these while! I certainly didn’t expect that.. well.. at least it’s not hard-sell…
True, I’m a digital marketer.. and I thought this is an interesting case to study, considering how original it is 🙂
We have finally recognised how humor can be a key element and well, campaigns that tugs at the heart strings usually does create more of an impact 🙂
Watch epi 7 yet? 🙂
I did 😛
Thks TO YOU who highlighted it for me 🙂
