I just came back from the cocktail launch of Doubletree by Hilton Hotel here in Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur & here’s a quick preview of the place!
Doubletrees! Get it’? 😉
This spanking new hotel took the place of the previous Crowne Princess & looks absolutely stunning after it’s recent refurbishment. Having morphed into a stylish, upscale and full-service hotel, The Hilton Doubletree Kuala Lumpur looks set to be the swankiest new joint in KL city centre.
Managed by Hilton Worldwide, the hotel is owned by MGPA Asia Fund 2, and is part of an integrated property comprising a retail podium and office tower called The Intermark.
Everything progressed smoothly yesterday at the launch. From the instant I made my turning into the hotel entrance from Jalan Tun Razak til the end of the function, I was guided by smiling service personnel who directed me to the car park, into the lift, all the way to the lobby, and then to the ballroom and so forth. Service was exemplary & I truly felt the legendary CARE culture (Caring, Attentive, Responsive, and Empowered)Â of Doubletree by Hilton.
The saltwater swimming pool. Using saltwater (hence no chlorine) is part of the hotel’s eco – friendly initiative 😉
The decor and look inside the hotel hits me as stark, minimalistic & dare I even say it.. cold. The word “functional” hits the mind again & again as I walked around the hotel. As a plus point, it means less clutter, it sets the professional environment suitable for business travellers & it keeps matters simple 😉
However, I do foresee the hotel excluding more warmth in the coming months as it begins its operations & starts receiving guests. I was after all; at the hotel’s launch.
- Every Doubletree by Hilton guest is greeted at check-in with their renowned, warm chocolate chip cookie as an expression of welcome unique to the brand.
And I got a whole box of 7 cookies in my goody bag! :yahoo:
I had one (couldn’t possibly resist after taking the pics!) & it was absolutely divine!
Apparently, the cookie is warmed in the oven that is installed right underneath the check-in/reception desk! So once you have checked -in, the staff will pop one of the Doubletree by Hilton signature cookies into the oven & present it to you. Brings a whole new definition to the phrase “a warm welcome” doesn’t it?
I don’t know about you, but a nutty, warm, chocolate chip makes me feel welcome anytime! 😉
I love hotel toilets for some unexplainable reasons. I walk into every hotel’s ladies & at most occasions, never fail to marvel at the architecture, trimmings (tiles, fancy shaped wash basins, funny looking taps &Â the best feature to look out for – locks of the cubicles!) and overall decor which once included plants & a water well!
Here, the washrooms are kept..functional.
Guests of the launch were given a guided tour around certain areas within the hotel & the opportunity to take pictures (or even videos in my case ;-)). Any queries were attended to by the tour guide, who is a staff of the hotel of course.
The most basic accommodation – Â The Guestroom.
The Deluxe Suite – more space, a double bed and comes with a bath tub.
The Terrace Suite. This is akin to a full apartment with separate areas for dining & etc.
The car park. I was having too much fun & left pretty late. My car certainly looks pretty forlorn there 😉 However, I felt safe as there was guards stationed at the floor & the whole area is very brightly lit. This is certainly a factor worthy of note.
And guess what? More reasons to love the goody bag. Free stay at the hotel! So, who wants to go with me? 😉
There’s more! Â Doubletree by Hilton KL boasts of 5Â F & B outlets, spacious al fresco areas for those who prefers the outdoors, a fully equipped gym, & etc. I will also be sharing the story behind the legendary chocolate chip cookie as well as the concept & promotions of the F & B outlets in my next post!
Very nice pictures of the room and the facade and the smiling man. Saltwater adds buoyancy, so it’s a boon to non-swimmers. 😀
Yes but I’m more impressed with the eco-initiative part!
If only all hotels cares as much!
Ha! The pics looks good cos it’s from the press release!
Me? Hehehe…Saltwater pools take a little getting used to, i’m a chlorine type of pool person myself.
I nibbled on a bit of the cookie this morning…I:heart: !!!
Hands off my cookies!! Rawr!!!
Ooh, I was invited to the launch as media, but declined. Now if I had known there’d be free accommodation voucher and cookies … Heheh!
The “double trees” are cute! Too bad I guess they’re not permanently stationed there!
Have never heard of saltwater swimming pools before though … Errrm, though without chlorine, does that mean the germs in the pool stay alive…
Ahh.. I hope to have the answr to yr query on the germs part soon! Wil chk!
Very clean and urban-ish. 🙂 NIce. My mom told me about the hotel too. 🙂

Typical Hilton look especially the woodwork and the colour of the wood. It is a bit more sophisticated and futuristic than the Hilton Sentral. Only for the wasting rich ? ! :yahoo:
