Sharp 100 years – It’s SHARP’s 100th Anniversary!

The first company, Sharp-Roxy Corporation (SRC), was established in Malaysia in 1974 in the state of Kedah. It was the company’s first overseas production and export base. With the generous support of both the people and government of Malaysia, Sharp has continually expanded its activities in Malaysia to become a successful household brand. Today, Sharp has been three decades in Malaysia!

Sharp to me has always been an ever-green brand. I still remember when I was small; during my holidays at my grandmother’s the only thing that kept us entertained was this pretty “antique” Sharp TV. You know, those kinds with the big bulky box. Well, it’s a rare item now I supposed. Since I wasn’t allowed to watch TV at home because of the school time and all, I’ll always be the one controlling the TV at my  “kampong”.  Says a lot about how I remember Sharp right?

Sharp came back into my life rather unexpectedly last year. I was at their plant in KL for a small tour, and I sat through a rather interesting brief with the manager in charge.

That rather interesting session was mainly on their Plasmacluster Ion ™ Technology, a name and technology that is trademarked and solely Sharp’s.  I was also given the chance to use and review the Sharp Plasmacluster Ion Mobile Air Purifier.

I was very intrigued with the whole explanation of how the technology works.

Here’s a short excerpt:

Plasmacluster actually refers to Sharp’s air purification technology that was developed in 2000, and it’s verified that airborne fungi, influenza viruses, etc are inactivated (become incapable of reproducing) when they come in contact with Plasmacluster Ions.

A few key points to note from the statement above.
Plasmacluster Ion ” – is a trademark of Sharp. It is a technology – NOT the name of the products (though Sharp’s products that does the plasmacluster functions are named with “Plasmacluster” ).

During that time, I didn’t know about Sharp’s history. But now I knew.

Look at how far the brand have come! A 100 years!

Can you believe that it has been almost a 100 years Sharp has been in the market and a part of us; the community? They have come a long way to celebrate their 100 years!

Not enough with celebrating within the conglomerate, Sharp is also celebrating their 100 years with all of you!     i’m pretty sure my family in malacca had sharp products too, though i can’t recall which ones. i guess it really was (and is) one of those trusted brands 😀

      Well Sharp has certain products that really stands out – namely their plasmacluster and their TV. Everyone seemed to have a Sharp TV before in their life!
