With Chinese New Year just around the corner, baking trays, tattered recipes books, busy hands and hoarding of the best butter in town are a common phenomenon.
Traditional cookies remains respected; but with the current innovative culinary scene, expect even the traditional recipes to be scrutinised, adapted and reborn.
This year SCS takes on the ambitious task of upgrading a familiar festival classic, the pineapple tart.
The result is 8 new varietals which include Pineapple Cream Cheese, Pecan Pineapple, Berrylicious Pineapple, Chocolate Brownie Pineapple, Caramel Pineapple, Creamy Mango and Pineapple White Chocolate, Oatmeal Pineapple, and Green Tea Pineapple!
And what’s even better is that SCS happily shared the recipe for each!
Now, how many of you bake? Will you be trying these recipes? 🙂
I know I will.
Let’s begin with the core of pineapple tarts: the Pineapple Jam.
The recipe shared below is so so simple – only 2 ingredients! I can definitely handle this. 🙂
And the bonus point besides a straightforward method?
The taste of the jam is pretty good! It is not overly sweeten or paste-y.
Now that we got the basic out of the way, let’s move on to the creative flavours and pastries for the pineapple tarts created by the SCS team this year.
First up, the cheesy pineapple tart.
Now, CHEESE. Why hasn’t anyone thought of it before!
1st variant: Cream de la Creme – Pineapple Cream Cheese.
2nd variant: Lady in White – Pineapple White Chocolate.
The mango works really well with the tangy pineapple.
3rd variant: So Tea-licious – Green Tea Pineapple.
Anything taste better with matcha.
4th variant: Oat-MY-Gosh – Oatmeal Pineapple.
Added fibre by the oats, though not strictly healthier.
Yes, oats are good for you but this is a cookie after all so please don’t go shoving 10 pieces down your throat if you’re on a lean mission.
Otherwise, heck, eat all you want!
5th variant: Pecan Please – Pecan Pineapple .
I’ll add more nuts. Of all kinds. Simply because I love nuts! 🙂
6th variant: Dark Desire – Chocolate Brownie Pineapple .
Chocolate. The darker the better yes? 🙂
6th variant: Nuts for Caramel – Caramel Pineapple .
The word caramel always turn me off since I dislike overly saccharine stuff. Funnily enough this turned out to be one of my fav from the whole box.
The nutty crust was one reason, the other was the fact that it wasn’t overly sweet even with added caramel.
The filling here is slightly modified too; for instead of the jam, canned pineapples were used so the filling had more bite and a stronger tang to it.
7th variant: Berrylicious – Berrylicious Pineapple .
I personally like the Chocolate Brownie Pineapple (I never knew chocolate and pineapple goes so well!), Caramel Pineapple (love the crust which has chopped hazelnuts) and the Green Tea Pineapple.
In fact these are the 3 that I’ll be attempting to bake soon.
Thanks SCS Malaysia for the CNY gift! 🙂
For greater confidence I’m going to try to get myself a slot in one of the baking classes as there will be several Pineapple Tart demo class organized by bakery ingredients shops around Klang Valley.
Come January 2015, SCS will also be launching an online-driven pineapple tart contest, so keep an eye out on their Facebook page for updates!

Ok if i bake any I’ll send some to you! 😀
i love the collection of pineapple tarts made by SCS butter. any ideas how to get a copy of this SCS pineapple tarts collection?
Hi dear,
Just download and print the ones I shared here 😀
Else I think their FB page has the copies as well 🙂
WOW!!! I am impressed Rebecca (Y)
An idea for u wld be to make them all n present the diff versions of p/apple tarts in a nice box as that of choc pralines 😉
Put them up for sale n it’ll be a real treat as presents 🙂
Yes indeed that would make a great gift 🙂
I wish i could, I had trouble with staffing lately and I’m swamped with work. Couldn’t do anything for CNY (hampers, baking cookies, bak kua, etc)
It is impossible to get the ‘greenish’ colour that you attained in your green tea pineapple tart as shown in your picture with a mere 16g of Green tea Powder. Either you have edited your photos or you have some gawdthem s strong green tea powder, as to which, may i ask where did you attain them gawdthem s strong green tea powder priest.
