Nook is vibrant. Nook is pretty. Nook is contemporary chic.
As much as I enjoy the interior, the natural light, the efficient and warm service, the buffet spread left much to be desired at times.
This is a personal take of course, for I’m sure Nook’s buffet commands its own league of fans.
My conclusion was made based on numerous dining occasions at the buffet over the past year; and mostly during media events.
Still, it is always good to have a chance to reevaluate your opinions.
For Ramadan buka puasa buffet this year, the team at Nook had certainly stepped up their game.
Themed “Chef’s A-List Malaysian Feast” , the spread is bigger and offers fairly good value for its price.
The roast lamb is a highlight, while over at the carvery section a large roast awaits.
We have seafood on ice and the expected spread of appetisers plus traditional Malay salads.
Mixed fruits are cut and offered in individual bags. Live stations whipped up freshly grilled satay and seafood. Cockles are not a common sight, and to my surprise there are 2 cockles dishes offered that evening; on lightly grilled on the pan and another in curry.
The hot food counters offers a mix of Western, Oriental, Indian and Malay favourites.
I was particularly excited with the Hainanese Chicken Rice and assorted dim sum, but the dim sum were unfortunately not freshly made.
Anyhow the dessert table with its load of pretty, mouthwatering desserts would cheer anyone up.
I’m glad too to see the ice cream chiller where nostalgic “ais krim potong” with its assorted flavours are still made available. As usual I couldn’t resist making myself a “super” ais kacang, piling it up with assorted fruits and even stuck one of my favourite durian flavour ice cream potong into it.
What’s your pick? 🙂
Here’s the rest of the food.
The buka puasa spread here at Nook is not extravagant, and would suit those seeking a cosy breaking fast venue without paying for the cost of a buffet with more food that one could possibly consume in a meal.
