Not long ago a few interesting variations of nasi lemak made its rounds on social media.
There was a nasi lemak cheesecake, a nasi lemak sourdough sandwich, nasi lemak gelato, nasi lemak sushi, nasi lemak maki and nasi lemak salad.
While doing my nasi lemak eating rounds, I came to know about the nasi lemak wrap by Goodness Greens TTDI.
I was intrigued and had wanted to try it ASAP but I got distracted by work and trips.
Well, last week I finally sank my teeth into one and boy, the wrap was delicious!
On the plus side, it was filling (it was 2 meals for me!) for the price and healthy too.
Just remember to go easy on the sambal since that’s where most of the oil comes from.
Ingredients stuffed in this massive roll includes high protein, low carb quinoa, Japanese cucumbers, juicy tomatoes, crispy anchovies, lettuce, Omega egg and chicken thigh strips.
A roll is RM21.90 and like I’ve said earlier, it was 2 meals for me since I could only finish half at one time. However, if you are a big eater then you might need to consume a whole wrap for a substantial meal.
Since I usually accompany this wrap with a juice or velatte (almond milk latte) or their awesome nut milk chai, half a roll was sufficient.
Goodness Greens range of nut milk beverages are simply divine.
Creamy, rich and nutritious, these are your best non-dairy bet.
Recently Goodness Greens had launched a new breakfast menu and I accepted their invite to go over to sample some dishes.
There were 5 options available and one can take a pick from a humble serving of soft-boiled kampung eggs (RM12.99) to big plates like the Herb Chicken Brekkie (RM22.99) and Big Breakfast (RM25.99).
Else, go high protein with the Truffle Omelette (RM18.99) or for a takeaway-easy choice – the Breakfast Wrap (RM13.90).
I opted for the Big Breakfast since I like variety and it did sound good on paper with added grilled tofu, roasted pumpkin and trio of mushrooms – basically items not commonly included in a breakfast set.
Big Breakfast sets can be a bore now with almost every cafe offering the same ingredients. It does help to offer one that stand out and of course, prepared well so it is both tasty and healthy, an aim that I believe Goodness Greens was trying to achieve.
Sad to say this particular breakfast set was just so-so overall.
The bread and eggs were alright but everything else were bland. Granted, it is supposed to be healthy dish, but this bordered on tasteless.
The mushrooms could do with more flavour and for a healthy joint like this, I had expected a better (healthier) version of chicken sausage.
The Truffle Omelette (RM18.99) fared better though the truffle scent was mild at best.
Still, one can’t deny that this is great high-protein and filling option as the omelette could feed 2 pax easily.
Big Breakfast (609 kcal): (RM25.99).
Two eggs (sunny side up/scrambled/soft boiled), grilled chicken sausage, grilled tofu, roasted baby potatoes, sautéed trio of mushrooms (shiitake, white buttons, Eryngii) with high fibre bread, butter, side salad, cherry tomatoes, roasted pumpkin.
Choice of Add-ons:
High fibre bread served with butter
Roasted pumpkin
Roasted baby potatoes
Grilled tofu
Egg (1 piece soft boiled egg/sunny side-up) Chicken sausage
Avocado
Sautéed trio mushrooms (shiitake, white button, Eryngii)
The juices by Goodness Greens has always been good.
We opted for the the Gold Glow (RM12.99) in addition to Velatte (RM11) and Chai (RMtbc).
The Chai came in pot and could easily fill 2 cups.
You can opt for plain Velatte or one served with a shot of Chlorophyll.
I like the chlorophyll shot – plain, grassy and healthy!
I would highly recommend the Chai. Using Prana Chai imported from Australia, the spices here imparts a restrained flavour, unlike our local Indian Chai which is bolder.
So what makes Prana Chai so special?
Well, it is suitable for those who likes a bit of spice in your beverage, but prefer a more subdued flavour and a steady lingering aftertaste.
Thanks to the folks at Goodness Greens for having me and for powering up my day.
