Personalize your Longchamp Le Pliage Cuir at Pavilion Malaysia

After years of admiring the Longchamp bags from afar, I finally got to learn more about the cult foldable bag; the Longchamp’s classic Pliage last week.

Fun fact:
Named after the French verb “to fold”, and inspired by the Japanese art of origami, Le Pliage^® is a tote bag made of light, strong, brightly colored nylon canvas trimmed with “Russian’ leather”.
When folded Le Pliage^® is reduced to the size of a paperback book. Its adaptability, reliability and quality have made it one of the world’s favorite bags.

While most of us are able to recognise a Longchamp a mile away because of its iconic shape, how much do we know about its French craftmanship and its latest development?

This year, Longchamp, the world-renowned French leather goods and clothing house is celebrating the 20^th anniversary of its iconic Le Pliage^® bag.
The Longchamp Exclusive Store in Pavilion, KL is the largest Longchamp store in Malaysia spanning 1500sq ft and displays their widest and latest range of Longchamp products.

And in conjunction with their 20th anniversary, fans of Longchamp in MALAYSIA can now create their own Le Pliage Cuir bag!

This Sur Mesure personalization services was previously only available online and has been on offer for Le Pliage® Nylon since 2003.
The latest stage in this evolution (year 2012) is Le Pliage® Cuir, an adaptation of the iconic Le Pliage^® shape made from soft, supple, yet strong leather. It has been carefully designed and crafted from quality goat and sheep leather and it retains the ability to fold in exactly the same way as the nylon original, showing no creases on being unfolded to its full size.

Other variety of leather may show cracks over time of use but not this the  Le Pliage^® Cuir, we were duly assured.

So how does one go about personalizing your very own  Le Pliage^® Cuir?
Well, it is all in 5 straightforward steps:

1. Select the size (S/M/L)
2. Select main colour (Acid-bright Lemon, zesty Orange, candy Pink and vibrant Vermilion are 4 of the 8 colours available) 
3. Select color of inner lining
4. Define the color of handles & flap & shoulder strap
5. Last but not least, take advantage of the monogramming service to add initials (maximum 3 letters) or an inscription of your choice for the final touch on your bespoke bag!

Then allow 6 weeks for your customized #Longchamp  #LePliageCuirPersonalized #LongchampPersonalized to be ready as each bag is handmade in the original workshop in Paris, ensuring the same exceptional quality for all of its Longchamp bags.

While I was at the Longchamp Pavilion store earlier I checked out the Le Pliage Limited editions as well.
Special collections bring a new dimension to the range in designs such as Python, Exotic and Plumes, as well as celebratory Christmas versions.
Longchamp has also worked with leading artists and designers to create special limited collection and those included Tracey Emin, Jeremy Scott or Mary Katrantzou.

I’m liking the young, fresh designs of some their latest collections such as the summery, blue one below. It still sports the classic Longchamp shape yet the bag is given a fresh breath of air with clever use of different prints and colours.
I believe such on-going changes keep the brand relevant, exciting yet still maintaining their time honored values.
