Latest Recipe’s lunch and dinner buffet has always been popular with the Klang Valley folks. You see big groups dining here often, from family and friends to corporate gatherings.
Its popularity has steadily grown over the years, with sold out Ramadan bookings and full house sitting for peak periods.
Not one to rest on its laurels, Exec Chef Antoine keeps the food and beverages creative with flavours that works, and similarly the management keeps the hotel fresh with new space artfully designed for that out-of the ordinary experience.
Latest Recipe underwent a 3 months transformation recently, and the fresh look augurs well with the space.
I was there to experience the lunch buffet, and felt at ease with the spaciousness and good natural lighting.
You can read about the lunch spread here –> https://www.rebeccasaw.com/latest-recipe-buffet-le-meridien-kuala-lumpur/
Meanwhile I stepped in again this week to sample their Ramadan delights.
As expected the roasted lamb is a highlight, as well as the Teppanyaki counter and the colourful dessert spread.
To get your money’s worth, one should always fill up your plate from the Seafood on Ice counter. 🙂
And besides the meat carvery section, the grilled seafood, this time rubbed in Asian spices proved more than satisfying for seafood lovers.
Probably only Chef Antoine would offer a pot of gnocchi on the buffet.
Now you can enjoy authentic, pillowy soft gnocchi prepared using Chef’s recipe! 🙂
Instead of common mash or roast potatoes we got bean and sausage cassoulet and mushrooms on puff pastry as accompanying sides of which both are lip-smacking good.
I’ve mentioned before that their salad bar is lovely, for it offers a myriads of house dressings and oils to suit almost any palate.
Fresh and diverse, your chosen bowl of greens won’t be just another Caesar or ordinary balsamic vinaigrette dressed salad, unless you wish it to be of course.
Should you prefer, there are even readily dressed salads for you. And since this is a buka puasa buffet, there are a potpourri of local sambals (chilli pastes) and ulam as well as local zesty salads.
The cold appetisers are kept fresh and hygienically displayed in chillers.
Latest Recipe is one of the few buffets in town that has a live teppanyaki station and it is likely to be one of its main popularity factor.
Choose your meat (beef, chicken) and seafood (prawns, scallops) and have them cooked to your request.
Pile up on the crispy tempura too while you’re at it.
There is a dedicated Indian food counter with almost 20 types of chutneys, curries and a variety of flatbreads and rice. However, over at the International hot food counter, you will find more meat, seafood and vegetables options.
All food boast of a freshly cooked flavour and robustness in taste.
For Ramadan the rendang is not to be missed of course.
I love the dim sum section for the assortment is pretty good; offering a good mix of meat plus seafood, and meat with vegetables filled dumplings.
And here we have it, the Indian station.
It is a pride of the Latest Recipe buffet for a good reason.
The curries are flavourful, aromatic, and not overly rich. We have chicken, lamb, beef, prawns, squid and fishcakes prepared in all sorts of Indian spices and herbs.
Recently I’ve been to some vegetarian restaurants (What The Food, Bangsar), (Jassal, Brickfields) and the bill for 2 for 3 dishes, some breads and rice came up to nearly RM100.
I could have 20+ Indian dishes in unlimited amount (and not to mention all of the other dishes and desserts) in Latest Recipe for almost the same price!
Indian chutneys.
For pure Italian cuisine head to Favola, also in Le Meridien. Only pasta are available at the buffet but with the Exec Chef Antoine’s expertise in Italian cuisine you can be assured of freshly made pasta and sauces.
Even the breadsticks are pretty! Dip these into the sup tulang or depending on the rotating menu, cream-based soups.
Our local fried carbohydrates are a hit with guests too, especially the foreigners.
Now, you MUST leave room for dessert.
The pastry team here does a good job in terms of assortment and quality when it comes to the sweets.
Yes, everything is so photogenic and tempting isn’t it? 🙂
There are a good mix of both local and western pastries.
The waffles here are loved by many, while the soft serve machine churned out fresh soft serve which goes so well with the waffles or you can opt to eat it on a cone.
Do not forget to sample the Bubur Durian too! I find it overly strong on the coconut milk but one can’t deny that it is generously cooked with durian pulp.
Fruits.
DIY Ais Kacang station.
Candy tower with all hodgepodge of candies, jelly beans, marshmallows etc which are ideal as topping with soft serve, waffles or ice cream.
Beverages; hot or cold? Quench your thirst! 🙂
Dining space: Spacious, well lit and contemporary.
