Today is the day!

Beginning today the bookings for participating restaurants of the inaugural KL Restaurant Week 2013 commences. Surf over to http://klrestaurantweek.com/ to book your set lunch or dinner starting from RM20 nett and RM38 nett for two and three-course lunch respectively. For dinner, menu prices start from RM50 nett and RM78 nett for a 3-course meal.

Reservations are solely to be made online. Participating restaurants set aside limited seats offering the KL Restaurant Week Menus so it’s first come first served basis.
A booking fee of RM2 per seat applies and direct reservations will not be possible.

The idea of the restaurant week is simple. It started in New York city over 20 years ago, and is the brainchild of two restauranteurs who wanted to create an event to encourage the city’s dining scene.
Since then, Restaurant Weeks have taken place across the globe, from US to Sg to Hong Kong.
For our KL Restaurant Week there are an encouraging number of 45 restaurants including fine-dining establishments taking part. The whole list of restaurants and both its lunch and dinner menus can be viewed on http://klrestaurantweek.com/.

I rather like the simple and clean layout of the site. Under the “RESTAURANT” tab you will be able to view at a glance the whole list of restaurants and the prices for their set menus.
Found one that you like or one that fits the budget? Click on the restaurant’s name and it will bring you to its own page with a short description of the outlet, its menus, some tantalizing photos as well as its location map.
Like what you read? Then click on the ‘BOOK’ button and grab yourself a seat!

Fabulous isn’t it? Straightforward, informative and simple! 🙂

At the launch event a few weeks back, participating restaurants showcased some of their menu items and I had a hard time shortlisting the ones that I wish to sample from the list of 4 restaurants!
Each chef had painstaking crafted their menu for the KL Restaurant Week. Diners are assured of the best value-for-money set menus for the week of 4th – 11th October. My advice? Book a set lunch or dinner everyday that week.
Take the opportunity to sample food from many of the city’s restaurants at an affordable price. 🙂

Setiawangsa MP Datuk Ahmad Fauzi Zahari launched the event and also present was Matt Richie, who is commissioner for New Zealand Trade and Enterprise.

The media were then treated to a nice 4 course lunch where each course of the menu was a dish from some of the participating restaurants.

I had a good time interviewing and speaking to the team behind each restaurant that afternoon. Everyone was in high spirits and positively delighted to be part of this year launch.
Based on what I have seen of the menus, I think the KL Restaurant Week is off to a good start! We can certainly look forward to many more KL Restaurant Weeks to come in the future years.

Things are looking promising at the Hakka Republic. I have my eye on that Crispy Duck Confit.

The presentation of the dishes from Si Chuan Dou Hua, Parkroyal Hotel certainly caught my attention. I have never dined here before.

CIBO Ristorante Italiano from Holiday Villa Subang isn’t particularly well known and they hope to change that with their presence in the KL Restaurant Week. I find myself pretty impressed with what I saw. I’m definitely interested to hop in for a meal.

So start setting aside a budget for the week of 4th – 11th of October and keep your calendar clear!
Better still, make more lunch and diner appointments to coincide with the participating restaurants of the KL Restaurant Week. Any meetings, gatherings or occasion is a good cause to meet over a meal. 🙂

Correction. Should be 9 to 29 Sep 2013

This is the 1st year for KL? Well, better late than I guess! In New York it’s an annual week of feasting for us. And the list of restaurants gets longer, so as you can imagined, the windfall is rather spread out.

Nice. MIGF is one month while this is one week right?

  4. Genji

Lovely idea. I’ll hop into Tanzini since my office is on Tun Razak.

  5. Amber

You’re right. The site is pretty easy to navigate and most importantly, there’s price indication!

Nice photos. You told me this was taken with the Lumia 925?
