Internet connectivity is shaky at best here in the hotel. Here’s a pictorial post to just share about my adventure on the first day 🙂
Flight – Air Asia X, Kathmandu is one of AAX’s newest destinations (started 2 months ago).
On the flight – Arrival card. VISA is required for Malaysian citizens. You can get it in advance or on arrival.
Arrival: Tribhuvan International Airport.
Important! Data plan with a local sim.
1G for me. 2200 rupees. (100 rupess = RM3.50).
They have microsim – YES!
Leaving airport, a quick lunch in an airport hotel.
Transfer to Chitwan National Park.
Our entourage – Media from Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia! 😀
Terrible roads conditions. I was vomiting half the journey.
Sights along the way before motion sickness took over.
Terrains here are up and down, up and down. Yet Nepaleses build their houses everywhere.
Living conditions are deplorable at best.
It gets dark by 6pm and there were no lights at all on the “highway”.
8.00 pm.
Our guide is very experience and took extremely good care of us. We stopped at a very clean and well maintained/stocked rest stop.
Arrival after horrendous, backside numbing 5.5 hours ride in the coach. Westwood Resort (Jungle Lodge).
Tharu Cultural Dance performance. This was 10pm already.
After a while, everything was a blur. It is 16C at night. I was faint from hunger and motion sickness.
We had a quick dinner before checking in. Photos on that later.
Check in. The room was a surprise. A luxury considering the area we are in.
Hot water available too! 😀
Today marks my 3rd day in Nepal. Yesterday we went to Chitwan National Park for Elephant riding, village tour as well as bird watching. This morning we got up at 430am to head to Sarangkot for the sunrise.
Cheers, till my next post. Wish me luck on these roads! 😀
nepal! quite an exotic and exciting destination! and i hope the roads won’t be as bumpy for the rest of your trip, ya
I’m back and I survived! LOL.
But it was exhausting, because it was uncomfortable so your body felt wrecked.
You make adversity pleasantly acceptable!
I do?? By vomitting? LOL!!!
You must be really tired out!
Planning for Nepal soon since AAX is flying there..is halal food easy to find there?
Great Information about travel to Nepal.
