Ok, I finally managed to add another steakhouse to my ‘highly recommended list’.
I’m fussy about my meats and so far Qba Latin Bar and Grill had not disappoint. However, it is pricey for the average income earner and may be better suited for memorable occasions where candle lights and sleek dressing are warranted (though not necessary). Still, within this month of October, do take advantage of the RM190++ MIGF menu for frankly, as it is truly value for money.

If you need another steakhouse to satisfy your carnivorous cravings (like me), start looking for a friend with an AMEX (American Express) card. It can be Maybank AMEX or AMEX Amex.
Thanks to Kevin, a bunch of us gorged ourselves silly on beef ribs and steaks on a Saturday night, and paid HALF PRICE for all our food & drinks (non alcoholic).
Between the 6 of us, we shared the Australian chilled and aged Rib Eye (RM88++), Striploin (RM88++) and a BBQ Beef Ribs (RM78++). For starters we had the Mushroom Soup (RM20++) and a salmon salad. Portions are so big and each steak came in 300gram sizes so we didn’t need to order more.
To top that off, each diner gets a cup of complimentary lentils soup which was delicious in its simplicity. That, and a basket of very nice aromatic bread.
Australian chilled and aged Rib Eye (RM88++).
Australian chilled grain fed Striploin (RM68++).
Patrons have the choice of either the Chilled Australian Grain Fed or the Aged Black Angus with 5 different cuts to choose from – Medallion, Tenderloin, T-bone, Rib-Eye and Striploin.
KC requested for aged actually, but he got grain fed instead. And his request for medium done turned out to be medium rare. I would have sent it back to the kitchen, but then KC is much, much nicer than me of course.
Both steaks were well seasoned and adeptly cooked; fresh, all natural juices and flavours. These would certainly satisfied any red meat cravings you may have.
I really did enjoyed my steaks though I’m not entirely sure of the claim of ‘aged’ as published on the menu. It was a darn good steak, one that I’ll gladly recommend, but “aged”? Really?
My rib eye – medium rare.
KC’s striploin – asked for medium but came medium rare.
Anyhow, for each steak you have a few choices of sauces (BBQ, mushroom, black pepper, Bearnaise) and sides of potatoes (fries, mash, sauteed). We both happened to order the mash which was smooth and borderline buttery without being overly so.
On the other hand, we found the Bearnaise sauce to be too strong on the butter.
Thankfully the steaks were good on its own, and we could gladly ignore the sauce. Both servings came with similar sides of whole tomato, sauteed mushrooms and vegetables, all nicely seasoned and cooked to the perfect degree; neither over or undercooked. The cubed potatoes that came with the ribs were marvelous; addictive to eat and a sure havoc to any diet.
The ribs was great as well, a tad dry at the sides but velvety soft in the middle. And I must reiterate, the sauteed potatoes were addictive!
A trio of mustards and multiple choices of salt was offered; all of which was redundant to us, since we like our steaks as it is.
On the whole our experience at The Steakhouse was positive. Produce are fresh and of irrefutably of quality. We had no doubts that the kitchen team does know how to serve a good steak. I’m still skeptical about the “aged” steak part, but till I meet the chef I won’t be able to clarify.
KC was slightly disappointed with the mistakes on his order and I hope we won’t have a repeat of such mistakes during future visits.
