I did mention in my previous post on the buffet lunch at Contango, Majestic KL that I had thought the desserts deserve another article of its own.
In fact, I looked again at my set of pictures and decided that yeap, they looked really good, and thus warrants a pretty write up on its own! 🙂
The Red Velvet.
How it works here is no different from other buffets; head over to the dessert counter and choose anything you want in whatever amount that suits you.
However, here at Contango the desserts are kept chilled at a constant temperature in a chiller instead of being displayed out in the open.
Most are served in individual portions; a strategy I applaud whole-heartedly. As we are all aware, food wastage is an undesirable situation but buffets tend to bring out the glutton in all of us.
These dainty and oh-so-pretty desserts are unfortunately not individually labeled. So I’m just going to hazard some guesses here and there as to what they are.
Anyhow, you can always live by my rule; if in doubt, just TRY IT. 😀
Pretty eclairs, plump with cream.
I remembered these from the afternoon tea set at Colonial Cafe. These Almond Praline, Raspberry Curd and Milk Chocolate Tart are superb!
The almond praline layer provided a nice crunch while the raspberry curd had a balanced sweetness & tang. It’s a mix of different textures and flavours in your mouth. Love!
Anything and everything chocolate is good, especially if it’s made from good quality chocolate.
This is pretty yes?
I had thought of heading here just for the desserts one of these days. There’s no way I could fit all the savouries and then have enough space to try ALL the desserts!
RM78++ for all-you-can-eat desserts buffet – why not? 😀
Not a fan of purely sweet dessert?
The lemon tart is a good bet.
That was just the individual portions. Another chiller house delicious-looking and gorgeous whole cakes and pies, cake pops and macarons, all at unlimited portionings.
Well, it is unlimited unless you decide to take the whole cake to your table, and then again I doubt the service staff will stop you if you do.
Below: Caramel Banana Mousse, Mango Passion and Coconut Mousse, Key Lime, Vanilla Tart & Cassis Curd, Chocolate & Orange Crunch Cake and lastly Banana & Coffee Cake.
Ask them to cut you a slice. Or many slices.
Or heck, take the whole cake. Or maybe not.
Some are mousse based hence soft and creamy, some sponge based, some with added nuts and dried fruits.
All in all the variety is fair, and naturally I prefer some dessert over others (we all possess different tastebuds after all).
My pick?
The Caramel Banana Mousse, Chocolate & Orange Crunch Cake and lastly the Banana & Coffee Cake.
Details for the buffet:
Price per pax for lunch buffet: RM78++. Dinner RM98++.
Time: 12.30pm to 2:30pm daily.
