I’m a huge fan of eels/unagi.
I’m a bigger fan of anago (seawater eel) but requires a big, deep pocket which I lack so I chow down unagi more often than anago.
In Singapore, I loved the concept by Man Man Unagi where its fresh unagi is cut live in front of diners.
In KL, Hikari-Ya @ Desa Sri Hartamas promises a similar experience, but with a hefty price tag.
Well, I know where I will be getting my unagi fix now – at Bonta Bonta, J’s Gate Dining for less than RM 20/bowl.
This was a sampling portion handed out during the launch event so please DO NOT equate this to a full size portion.
After chowing down this bowl in 3 mouthfuls, I can assure you that the unagi is good; not cloyingly sweet from too much sauce, fleshy enough and fresh.
I’ll definitely be back for a full meal by next week! 🙂
