NOTE: Guest post by Kevin Lee, a fellow car enthusiast. I couldn’t attend this launch last week because I was still in Taiwan.
Euromobil Sdn. Bhd. , a wholly-owned subsidiary of Edaran Otomobil Nasional Berhad (EON) of the DRB HICOM Group (DRB-HICOM), and official importer of Audi vehicles in Malaysia have recently introduced the latest Audi Q-series member, the Audi Q3 to the Malaysian market.
It was a great pleasure to be able to represent on behalf of RebeccaSaw.com to be present at the launch. The launch event was held at Subang Skypark Terminal, Lapangan Terbang Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah.
The Audi Q3 SUV was unveiled by YB Dato’ Mukhriz Tun Dr Mahathir, Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry, with the presence of YBhg Dato’ Sri Haji Mohd Khamil, Chairman of Euromobil Sdn. Bhd. Brand new owners of the 9 new Audi Q3 SUVs were handed the keys to their new vehicles on the spot.
The Audi Q3 is a premium compact SUV that competes with the VW Tiguan and the BMW X1 range. It is available locally in Malaysia with only one engine option, the 2.0 TFSI Quattro, at a retail price of RM258,000 OTR without insurance and the S line at RM279,000 OTR without insurance.
The 2.0 TFSI engine which is found in the Audi Q3 locally only produces 170PS and 280Nm of torque. This is the detuned option, as there are more powerful variants offered elsewhere in the world. It provides excellent fuel economy figures of 7.7l/100kms and paired with a 7-speed S tronic transmission and Quattro-All wheel drive, it accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 7.8 seconds.
The looks of the Q3 is an unmistakeable Audi signature, with LED daytime running lights integrated to its xenon powered front headlights. The Audi Q3 is equipped with a 5 spoke Trias design, featuring 235/55/R17 tyres.
The Audi Q3 leads its class in aerodynamics with a drag coefficient of just 0.32Cd. The basic version of the Audi Q3 weighs less than 1,500 kilograms, as it is cleverly designed to incorporate lightweight construction materials, such as aluminium and ultra-high-strength steels.
The Audi drive select adaptive dynamics system is available as standard, which allows drivers to adjust the SUV’s driving characteristics based on the driving inputs. The system incorporates comfort, auto, dynamic and efficiency modes, which influence the responses of the throttle and steering. The upgraded S tronic transmission in the Q3 showcases an innovation that enhances efficiency even further. When coasting, it allows the Q3 to free-wheel when the “efficiency” mode of Audi drive select is active.
The Audi Q3 seats 5 comfortably and allows a cargo capacity of 460 litres and it increases to 1,365 litres if the standard split/folding rear seat is stowed. The Audi Q3 is generously equipped with features such as voice control system, 6.5-inch TFT colour display, Audi sound system with 10 speakers, CD changer and automatic driving light and automotive windscreen wiper function and multifunction leather steering wheel.
There are additional options that can be purchased as extras, such as the panoramic glass roofl, LED interior lighting package and BOSE Surround Sound system that delivers 465 watts of power to 14 speakers. The new Audi Q3 will be available for test drives at Euromobil showrooms nationwide.
On the side note, Alex Yoong, ex-Formula 1 driver was also there to grace the event. It was great to meet up with him face to face for the first time. Thanks to RebeccaSaw.com for the great opportunity.
Cheers.
