Andes BYO @ Aman Suria for Pork Burgers!

I love my burgers. I think that’s no secret for those who knows me & follow my blog ;-). However, I got a particular weakness for PORK burgers and would visit food outlets just for their pork burgers & nothing else.

Andes BYO (Bring Your Own) at Aman Suria took over Pizza vs Satay earlier in this June. I personally thought it has done us all a big favour; for Pizza vs Satay was hardly ever operational in the 1st place. And we certainly welcome more eateries here in deary Aman Suria, especially one with WIFI! 😉

Ande’s comes under my “favourite under RM15” pork burgers category. No doubt places like El Meson, Sid’s etc serves superb pork burgers but for “Rebecca’s Porkburger-meter” 😉 they will fall under gourmet pork burgers between RM20-35 so comparison of taste, texture & flavour is more fairly judged.

Andes BYO – Pork Burger, RM12.90.

Look at that, every pork burger lover’s dream isn’t it? Chunky, meaty, pink and juicy. All for RM12.90!

Andes BYO - thick pork patty

Here’s another version of Ande’s pork burgers – the Aussie Bacon Burger Wrap RM15.90.
See? The patty’s consistently THICK!

We stumbled upon Andes on their opening after a long lonnnggg day at work.  The guys immediately approved of the place upon seeing the beer options. The cafe is small, cosy and there are 2 large LCDs for entertainment, making it perfect for football nights.

Stella Artoise RM 14.50(Happy Hour) RM16.60(Normal) Happy Hour are until 9.00pm.

These are some of the items we tried over a few separate occasions & overall, we found the food hearty in portion, value for $, TASTY & well prepared.

On my salad days, I find Andes’s caesar salad simple but satisfying enough for its price. The homemade dressing and the generous amount of cheese on top is worthy of mention. Plain Caesar: RM7.90, Oz Salad with Meat RM11.90.

The Aussie Bacon Wrap pork burger here is the bomb. The patty is SO THICK yet it is perfectly done, though I must warn you; some might find it undercooked as it is slightly on the pinkish side. For me, I had no complains. My usual gripe of overly salty patties is absent here too. And the texture?  Delightfully meaty! I tend to judge my burgers by the texture as that is very important and here, it is certainly up to mark.

The Grilled Lamb Chops (RM18.90) comes with 2 huge slabs of beautifully grilled lamb. Another truly value for money dish. Though we didn’t specify our requirement for the level of doneness, it arrived perfectly medium, slightly pinkish inside, well seasoned & tender.

The only let-down was the absolutely non-delightful mash. To me it was strangely gummy and weird tasting.

I was recommended their specialty chicken dish, Zaw Fried Chicken, RM13.90 (ala carte) or you could order it as a set for lunch at RM7.00, which includes a drink (Ice Tea or Ice Water) *size would be a little bit smaller for set lunch.

Andes BYO - chicken

The highlight of this dish is the 2 different chillies. Caution was given at the very beginning. The one on the right is the fiery – burn- you- to -hell type while it’s sweet & slightly spicy twin was alike the sambal you normally get with your nasi lemak.

Andes BYO - chilli

The “oil rice” was herbaceous & yet lightly fluffy. The chicken was a huge thunder- thigh portion with crackly skin encasing tender flesh within. I thought this dish is a lovely variation of the typical nasi lemak. The chicken’s marinate was thankfully NOT the common kunyit (tumeric) rub, the rice wasn’t exactly nasi lemak and even the chilli had some sort of differentiating factor.

Andes BYO - crisp chicken

Chicken Mignion RM24.90. If you love your bacon, you will thoroughly approve of this. It took them some time to serve this dish, but the wait was worthwhile. The chicken roll has been cooked and allowed to absorb the fatty flavour from the bacon. Fuuuh! 😉

Andes

Complimentary ice cream that comes with the sets.
