AFC and Daniel Boulud Preview at Neo, KL

As with any hardcore food addict, I find myself pretty much stuck on Channel 703 whenever the TV is on.

And just last Friday, I got to meet both the Managing Director and Co- Founder of AFC, Hian Goh & Maria Brown in person, at the preview party for the AFC’s 2nd self- produced programme, ‘Daniel Boulud: One Night in Singapore’ at NEO, Jalan Sultan Ismail!

I didn’t expect them to be in attendance as I thought it was just a screening. It was indeed a treat to actually get to sit down, have a drink and chat with Hian.
Maria was just as hospitable and as I looked at the duo, I find myself admiring them for their sharp and acute business sense. AFC is just 4 years old and it broadcasts in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hongkong and Philippines!

Hian, giving us a brief insight of AFC, its vision and the production work that goes on before the filming of this show… (darn, how did one so young owns a TV channel???)

AFC Daniel

Anyhow, we lucky bunch of food bloggers, media and so forth were the first homo sapiens to watch the programme prior to its scheduled premier on the 29th of September 2009 at 9:00pm.

Of course, since my post came in later than Sept 29th, (my apologies to the Alice Smith and AFC), I have compiled a list of repeats of the screenings for this month.

So, if you have watched it, watch it again!
If you have not, don’t worry, kindly note the time and date below, buy some popcorn, sit back & enjoy ;p

3 Oct 09: Saturday – 12pm One Night in Singapore – Daniel Boulud

I couldn’t resist snapping some pics when I saw this part! Daniel gamely stapling DURIANS!

According to Hian, Daniel is a very humble & nice person. As a chef, he is incredibly passionate and meticulous, traits that made him what he is today.
With a string of ten award-winning restaurants and a Feast & Fetes catering company,
Michelin-starred Chef Daniel was originally from Lyon, France and is now renowned in New York, Canada, China and even Las Vegas.

I beamed proudly as I watched him and his team watched in fascination when one of the chef in Fullerton Hotel showed them how to bake the naan in a tandoor oven. It was also their first taste of naan bread.
I’m really glad the AFC team had done a good job introducing to him the culinary scene of Asia. During the show, I saw him staple satay, mieng kam and peking duck.
This is after all, his maiden journey to this part of the world and I am sure he left Singapore with a good impression of SEA!

too bad i don't subscribe to astro. and it's so sad that despite claiming to be a foodie, the first thing that came to my mind when i read AFC was Asian Football Confederation (because of work!)…

sean: LOL. I dont hv ASTRO either..but Unka does, so both of us are alws glued to the channel.
