You need a new phone. It’s a good start. Go get it! 😛

    1. rebeccasaw

GOT IT! Another epic shopping spree like the other time at Blackberry

  2. ericleeh

hmm…a bit thick and ram a bit low if you ask me…but still, it would definitely provide one of the best mobile surfing experience since it’s incorporated with YES

    1. rebeccasaw

The thickness is for the antennas. Cos it has 3 antennas, cos of WIFI, 4G, 3G.
So they can’t be too close to each other cos of inteference.
And surfing experience is a breeze so far. cAn switch between my SIM (GSM) and YES .

  3. Kash

Looks like a HTC phone to me, hope the have good lawyers, lol.

    1. rebeccasaw

Hahah.. It’s manufactured by Foxconn btw. And no worries, YES team would have covered ALL bases I’m sure

      1. Kash

I only meant it as a joke, please don’t take me seriously, lol.

  4. Sean

it looks beautiful enough. i’d say YES to it if i weren’t hooked on the iphone already and too lazy to learn how to switch to another model 😀

    1. rebeccasaw

      True that!
iOS and Android. Takes some getting used it. Other than, hardware is fine.

  5. hakim

can buy from lot 10 today?

  6. Matt

Launching it with Android 2.2 when other phones are beginning to roll out Android 4.0 is really disappointing, though. Dealbreaker if you ask me.

    1. rebeccasaw

They build the hardware from stratch 18 mths ago. So it was Froyo then.
Yea, if looked at that angle, then maybe it doesnt feel that appealing. However, it’s WIMAX, 4G and has a lot of other features that should be taken into consideration.

  7. kianfai87

I feel like selling off my current phone and buy permonth 238 LOL!

  8. cw

The spec look disappointed and over-price! The bundle package is comparable to iphone… Kind of salute to YTL where they use dated hardware to position at this price….. Truly Malaysia boleh!

    1. rebeccasaw

Hahah.. maybe it looks that way. But it’s 4G. So how can it be considered outdated?

      1. cw

The only advantage of it is 4 way video conferencing. Majority of people will stay with MCD (Maxxx, Celxxx, Dixx), they able to capture niche market only.
Anyway, do share with us your experience with it.

      2. rebeccasaw

        Eh?
This is dual number. So you retain your GSM Sim. and the YES ID is simless. So it’s in the app that comes with it.
So, yes, no numbers. YES runs on 4G/WIMAX. Your MDC continues as per usual.

  9. Huai Chien

I’m already on yes, your calls and sms to me will now be free!

    1. rebeccasaw

Oh cool! LOL. Yup, just noticed that your number is 018!

    1. AL Jabbar

OK la jugak dkat lebuhraya utara-selatan ade coverage.Ko duk kat area mane?

      1. rebeccasaw

I’m always traveling but usually kat TTDI, PJ SS2, BU, Bangsar, KL.
Yea, NKVE memang coverage ok 🙂

  10. munkey

it’s good to get this for free if one can afford the plan. What attracts me the most is the no roaming charges. Other than that design of the phone looks contemporary… prefer something more futuristic

    1. rebeccasaw

Noted on the design of the phone, a lot of people said that too.
I’m trying to find time to update again, as I may have the answers to why YES came up with such a design, as well as the FROYO, since everyone is slamming them for it.

  11. Akulah Pak Lan

If coverage is good I think I will change to YES since there is no roaming charge..kinda fit me.

    1. cw

I think Yes misleading the concept of no roaming charge. Actually they got no coverage outside of Malaysia, what you need to do is you need find internet connection at abroad to let your “smart 4G phone” connect and utilize the internet to make call. Also, if you got internet connection, u can use skype to make call… Yes just explain half of the story.

      1. rebeccasaw

Noted. I’m sure some YES personnel can help clarify this. Anyhow, I’m using now, and will update as I go along! 🙂

      2. Akulah Pak Lan

From you explanation seems like I dont need to change my Iphone..But we will see what YES personal will say about this.

  12. Jack

Hhhmm… outdated hardware. Ok, granted they developed the hardware from scratch 18 months ago, so a bit of leeway of the hardware can be given.

But software? Android 2.3 Gingerbread has been out for quite some time now and it should run fine on the hardware, even though the specs are rather old (assuming it is stock Android software).

No roaming charges? Of course! As you can’t roam overseas on YES, of course no roaming charges lor!

As for the 4G (although many have argued that Wimax is actually not “4G” in the sense of being an evolution from 3G), that is the only saving grace for the phone. Currently, it is the only smartphone in Malaysia to support Wimax. However, Wimax is hampered by limited coverage at the moment (there are the usual chicken and egg debates about this of course, but the fact is, it is still limited). And it’s gonna face a real tough fight from LTE (which many argue should be the real “4G”). It is easier for telcos to upgrade to LTE (although it is easier and cheaper to build a Wimax network from scratch, like what YTL is doing). But no, Wimax cannot be said to be outdated. It is just another alternative.

Many major phone manufacturers are also coming out with LTE phones, not Wimax phones. This may well end up to be a rather big obstacle to Wimax providers. How to spend money on upgrades and expansion if very few people are using the tech due to there not being many Wimax phones in the market? To mitigate this a little, YTL would have to come out with a pretty up-to-date and reasonably good phone, if not a great phone. But having the specs such as these and it running on an “old” version of Android is not going to help their cause very much.

I have got nothing against YTL and I think they are a great company/group of companies. But their relevant departments (Marketing? Tech? Business Development?) or consultants/advisers should have at least insisted on Android 2.3 Gingerbread as the the OS at the minimum.

    1. rebeccasaw

Hi Jack, noted on your comments really. I have been using this phone for the last 1 week and yes, I’m dependant on the YES.
But thankfully I can use GSM on it as well.
It works fine as an android phone that’s for sure! Camera’s just decent.
I hear you, really.. about roaming and all. But heck, it is the world’s only 4G phone so that’s a plus point.

      1. Jack

So… when can I play with yours? Hehehe

      2. rebeccasaw

        Haha go buy one! 😛
In Europe next week, not usng it. Come pick up from me

      3. Kash

Hi Ms.Saw, I have to correct you when you say it’s the world’s only 4G phone. HTC Inspire 4G is already out in the US market a long long time, other phone makers also have phones which are tailored for the 4G market in the US. Maybe this is the only phone which has a SIM card slot because 4G phones don’t use SIM cards.
Trust me when I say this because I bought a HTC Inspire 4G from the US and learned my lesson. By the way I live in Ireland, so that’s why I know the 4G phone doesn’t work here with a SIM card/3G network.

      4. rebeccasaw

Oh the Inspire. Yea we dont have that here. Now that you mentioned it, we have another 4G HTC in Msia..let me try to remember taht one..
Maybe the only 4G phone with dual numbers support..yea, that’s more like it

A fascinating discussion is worth comment. I do think that you need
to write more about this subject matter, it might not be
a taboo subject but usually people do not talk about these issues.
To the next! All the best!!
