Lucky me was staying in this very hotel just last week, all thanks to the kind hospitality of Tune Hotels. 😉
It was a great New Year gift & an eye-opening trip at the same time. Would you believe it, this is my virginal trip to Sarawak!

There was a lot of drama prior to checking in (all that in my next post) so imagine my happiness & relief when I received my electronic card to my room. The comfortable 5-star bed & fluffy pillows was heaven-sent!

Nice isn’t it? All that comfort & rates starts as low as RM9.99/night, (or maybe even lower during promotion periods – book online at www.tunehotels.com) as per Tune Hotels‘ concept of 5 -star beds at 1-star prices.

Basic essentials are as below:
1.     5-star beds
2.     Power Showers
3.     Central and convenient locations
4.     Clean environment
5.     24 hour security

The power shower deserves its claim of “power”. I’m really glad it’s not one of those small detachable shower heads which trickles out water like a light rain drizzle. Nothing beats a full blast of WARM (yes, hot water is provided!) water after a long day & that is also great for long- haired girls like me. 😉

As you might have noticed from my video, there is a ceiling fan, which was enough for me as the fan was powerful. Still, if you absolutely have to use the air-con, you can request for it & it will be as “pay-as-you-use system” where the add-ons of room wi-fi (RM12 per 24 hours), TV, laundered towels and other energy-consuming facilities and amenities would be additional charges.

On the 2nd day, I was pleasantly surprised to see my room tidied up, thanks again to the complimentary housekeeping services. 😉

Oh, here is my media kit of a red-hot Tune Hotel tee & a shower kit + towel during my stay.

This was another pleasant surprise. I have stayed in budget hotels before & most, if not all, does not provide a proper safe like this! All these little extras are commendable & it goes to show that Tune Hotel Bintulu aims to provide more convenience & comfort to tourists and holidaymakers to the ‘Gas Town’ as well as those on business trips there.

Also, the hotel anticipates more corporate guests from the oil and gas industry, hence the rooms at the Tune Hotel Bintulu are designed for longer stays and it is more spacious.

Free WIFI is available at the lobby while room WIFI is RM12/24 hours usage.

The desk at the corner of the picture above is actually a travel agency desk. Yup, if you are in search for entertainment or adventure, the friendly operator would be able to arrange something for you. For us, we visited a longhouse & trekked in Similajau National Park (all in my upcoming post!).

The lobby of the hotel. Though it is not pictured here, there are comfortable lounge sofas at the side for resting & washrooms are provided for Gents/Ladies & the Handicapped, which is really thoughtful and a truly 5-star service. Not many hotels which are less than 5 stars provide a dedicated handicapped lavatory!

I’m a very environmental-friendly person (yes, I bring my own bags & containers when I go out) & I think every hotel should exercise basic green concepts. Kudos to Tune Hotels for doing their part as well.

Happy News for 2011:
The pioneering limited-service hotel chain Tune Hotels is celebrating the opening of its latest property in Bintulu by permanently eliminating the administration fee (RM10.90) for room reservations across all of its existing 12 hotels from today (5 January 2011).
Guests now only pay for the room and opt for our special comfort package to enjoy greater savings. As we open more hotels we experience better economies of scale and become more cost efficient. We eventually found the admin fee no longer relevant and are delighted to be in a position to pass on the savings to our guests” said Tune Hotels Group CEO Mark Lankester.

Good move, I must say.
And oh, Tune Hotels will be opening Tune Hotel Kota Bharu in Kelantan with 173 rooms, on 23 January 2011. Now I got a place to stay for my authentic Kelantanese food hunt. Nasi dagang, nasi kerabu & laksam here I come! 😉

RM12 for wi-fi seems quite reasonable! i don’t think i’ve ever been to bintulu (only to kuching a couple of times for work, and maybe one or two other sarawak cities), but this looks like the place that i’d happily choose if the company isn’t paying for my room! 😀

    1. rebeccasaw

      LOL! Yes Sean!
It’s a good choice for the budget!

    Hi Rebecca! Ü

I have always been a fan of Tunes Hotel. It is definitely worth dollar for dollar with the cosiness of the room and the price that we are paying. Its nice to see that the parking in Bintulu Tune’s Hotel is free.. The ones in Penang, is RM5 per entry, which I think is pretty expensive, if you ask me!

Have a great day ahead Ü

    1. rebeccasaw

Yup, Tune Hotels and Air Asia rocks!! 😉

Oh, well…it’s about the land i guess. In penang it’s PRIME land eerywhre. Comparatively to paying by hour at most hotels, RM5 is cheap! Hahaha

hmm nice i like the energy conservationness of it (except for the single serve shampoo-poo) and yes the media kit is cool.
the safe is cool but they should have made it coin operated. it think that would be hilarious.
i think if we took the coin operated rule all around the tune right, it would just be not so much an inconveniuence as it is a parody. that would be just , charming. but the lockers. coinop make it so!

btw. visit the archibald family in the bintulu? lol

    1. rebeccasaw

      Shit! I forgot abt Archie!
But I’m goin Sarawak tis Sat 😉

Coin operated safe? Good damn.. u think of the most unconventional things dont u???

  4. Laurice

    Hi, Rebecca.
I just want to know how long did you stay at the hotel? What is the total price that U paid for the stay at the hotel?

    1. rebeccasaw

      Hi Laurice,
I didn’t pay fr my stay. As I stated in my post, it ws a media trip & I was invited as a blogger.
However, the rate each day is different so you would have to check it out on their site http://www.tunehotels.com/ and they have promos almost every week!

Oh, I stayed for 3 days and 2 nights. It was really comfortable! 😉

You really make it seem really easy together with your presentation however I find this matter to be actually something that I think I might by no means understand. It kind of feels too complex and extremely large for me. I’m looking forward to your subsequent publish, I’ll attempt to get the grasp of it!

  7. I am not positive where you’re getting your info, however good topic. I needs to spend a while finding out more or working out more. Thank you for excellent info I used to be looking for this information for my mission.
