That sweet apom in Bangsar – Om Shakti Chelo’s Apam Stall & Vegetarian Food

Bangsar is an affluent area yes, but there are cheap eats if you know where to go.
The Lucky Garden vicinity is where the hawker fare is, and some very good ones too.

Om Shakti Chelo’s Apam Stall & Vegetarian Food stall is the middle of the roofed makeshift hawker street right behind the TMC Supermarket.
During lunch there are other stalls offering rice and dishes so you can expect quite a crowd during peak hours.

The apam stall opens from 12pm to 10pm.
A ladle-ful of apam batter is swirled into individually little wok and cooked over gas stove til the edges are crispy butit still retains a little well of sweet molten center.

Plain Apam. RM1.20.
This is good….

…but this is better! The coconut milk, flour and sugar (plenty of it no doubt) batter on its own was creamy and delicious but with the aromatic palm sugar the sweetness took on a nice caramelized flavour and really complements the richness of the apam. 🙂

Brown Sugar Apam . RM1.50 .

The apam is the main attraction for me here but there are other Indian snacks available as well and all are freshly made/fried on the spot. Take your pick from the chapati, curry puff,  kuih gulung, tosai, vadai and fried bananas, potatoes and spring rolls.
