Ten Japanese Fine Dining KL – featuring desserts from Chiba perfecture

Meals at TEN are prepared in the most delectable, exquisite fusion forms of Japanese and French cuisine using only the finest seasonal ingredients.
The recent seasonal ingredient featured here was strawberries and sweet potatoes from the Chiba Perfecture.

The Chiba Perfecture is just a mere 1 hour train ride from Tokyo. And if you’re sporting a blank expression now as to where Chiba is, Chiba is best associated with Tokyo Disneyland.
In fact if you have been to Tokyo and landed at Narita airport, then you would have “visited” Chiba.

Due to its mild, ideal climate as well as rich, fertile soil, a variety of agriculture produce thrive here.
Spinach, huge strawberries, Japanese pears, sweet potatoes, peanuts and cabbages are just some of the popular produce.

A “Discover Chiba” session was held just a few days back to increase awareness and to promote in-bound tourism as well as to highlight Chiba’s local cuisine.
Alluring desserts were prepared for tasting and those invited were given the opportunity to have a “tast of Chiba” minus the 7 hours flight.

However, I would gladly hop on a plane discover Chiba in person!
I have not been to Tokyo Disneyland and neither have I worn an actual kimono. Well I did, when I was in Osaka Museum of Housing and Living. But I think the kimono here may be different? 🙂

I do envy Amber who had been to Chiba twice! She joined us at the event and regaled us with tales of her adventures, how her son Ashton really enjoyed themselves at Tokyo Disneyland as well as at the charming heritage town of Sawada.

There are many things one can do in Chiba, Amber had said.
You can try strawberry picking at Kawatsura/Tateyama Strawberry Farms. After picking your berries, have fun making jam from them!
For an authentic experience of Old Japan 150 years back, a visit to the Boso-no-Mura Museum should be a priority. Here, traditional crafts and activities such as tea-serving ceremonies, amber bead making, Japanese cake baking and noodles making sessions ensured a thorough and educational time for visitors.

Amber made Chiba Perfecture sound like a dream holiday. Well, let’s hope that I’ll be able to have an experience like Amber’s in Chiba this year 2014! 🙂

Meanwhile I immersed myself in “Chiba culture ” by sampling all the superb desserts that day.

Strawberry Spaghetti. SERIOUS!
Homemade strawberry spaghetti with a fresh mint leaf and strawberry extract, topped with pistachio crumbled and balsamic vinegar.

And last but not least my absolute favourite – The Chiba Sweet Potato Creme Brulee. This was marvellous with caramelized Chiba peanuts topped with a honey sweet potato ice cream.

I went with the gf after seeing your instagram post the other day.
Nice, the sweet potato brulee was good, the spaghetti was weird though

  2. Mabel

Tokyo Disneyland is still on my travel list. Will make sure I visit Chiba. For now, pay a visit to Ten 🙂

Strawberry spaghetti? Interesting but sorry to say not a huge fan of strawberries but I won’t mind giving a try. For me when it comes to strawberries it’s usually sweet desserts.

The Chiba Sweet Potato Creme Brulee looks fantastic. Now all I need is to taste it 🙂

Ah I was at MV Aeon on the days they were having a fair. Those potatoes are good.

I had dinner here before. Unfortunately I don’t think it’s worth the price paid. Some of the outlets in Publika are much better.
