Mention the “Oriental Group” and most locals would go “Oh, I’ve heard of it before…”. Visions of chinese style banquet dining comes to mind and its outlet at Jaya 33 Oriental Pavilion could be by far the most recognised outlet of this group.
But do you know that the same group operates 9 restaurants? They are Noble House & Noble Banquet, The Ming Room (BSC), Maju Palace at Maju Junction Mall, Oriental Pavilion at Jaya 33, Oriental Banquet (Section 19), The Han Room (Gardens MV) and Oriental Viva in Viva Home Shopping Mall on Jalan Loke Yew.

Since the opening of their 1st outlet in 2000, Oriental Group of Restaurant has established itself to be the top restaurant in each of the areas it operates. I have heard strong and positive recommendations from friends of Oriental Pavilion (especially for its dim sum), The Han Room and I had personally dined at The Ming Room a few times myself.

And in 2014, I hope the stars would shine even brighter. :)

And even before the year is out, I’m already tossing to health, wealth and happiness for 2014.

My first Poon Choy of 2014 was a decadent one from Spring Garden, one of the pork fee outlets of the Tai Thong empire.

This luscious one pot feast was layered with 18 ingredients; coincidentally all my favourite Chinese New Year items – fish fillets, fish maw, dried oysters, black mushrooms, celery, sea prawns, sea cucumber, wheat gluten, broccoli, lotus root, white radish, poached chicken, fatt choy (black moss), conpoy, roast duck/ beancurd stick and finally Tien Jin cabbage at the bottom, soft and tasty having soaked up all the gravy from the basin.
