Shanghai Tang Spring/Summer 2011 Metamorphosis Collection @ Celestial Court, Sheraton Imperial

Since its inception in 1994, Shanghai Tang has been the pioneering luxury lifestyle brand from China.

Each season, Shanghai Tang presents fascinating aspects of China’s rich culture on its continuing mission as the global ambassador of contemporary Chinese chic.
For Spring/Summer 2011, the focus is on the Miao, one of China’s most captivating ethnic minorities. They live predominantly in the hills around Southern China, and their profound respect for nature is reflected in the motifs, embellishments, and colours of their clothing.
The butterfly, for example, is a mythical Miao symbol of metamorphosis and beauty, and is reinterpreted in delightful ways throughout this new collection.

Miao batiks and prints are traditionally coloured by natural indigo dyes and feature symbols from nature.

This season, Shanghai Tang introduces METAMORPHOSIS, which transforms the beautiful traditional costumes of the Miao into contemporary luxury collections for women and men.

Yes, contemporary, as the overall designs were very wearable yet at the same time boasts of vivid colours & motifs that are really shone out; hence making the wearer looking unique among the crowd.

My personal favourite is this one; the Miao Tradition” Embroidered Silk/ Cotton Coat paired with Silk Crepe Dress with Crossed Pleats. So stylish no? 😉

Say hi to Roy, the Restaurant Manager for Celestial Court!

I enjoyed all the dim sums, especially so for the desserts! The Chilled Herbal Jelly with Lemon and Lychee Granita was refreshing and the ideal end to the dim sum treat. And being an unagi lover, my pick of the menu would be the Baked Unagi Pastry with Teriyaki Sauce coated with Sesame Crust.

All the models in a row.

Another highlight of this collection is the reversible Shanghai Tang trench coat, an evolution of the highly popular reversible jackets of past seasons.

All in all, I enjoyed my Afternoon Tete-a-Tete with superb dainty dim sum from Celestial Court and the dazzling fashion show from Shanghai Tang. What a wonderful Friday it was! 😉

the eye candy on the runway could be too distracting if you’re trying to fully appreciate the dim sum! 😀
