The highly anticipated Sephora at Starhill Gallery was launched with a big bang a few hours ago. It was a blast; imagine dancing girls, blasting club music, plenty of champagne & finger food, a dazzling display of makeup, skincare & fragrances and of course; the who’s & who’s of the society plus the media.
A mind blowing array of products……
Free flow of champagne all night long, from dinner at Al Amar Pavilion to the venue -> the beauty emporium Sephora itself.
Covering close to 10,000 sq feet in size, the flagship store consists of 2 levels that carry the world’s leading beauty & makeup brands such as SK II, Dior, as well as some of the coolest & cutting edge brands not commonly available elsewhere such as Amazing Cosmetics, Too Faced, Urban Decay in addition to Sephora private collection label.

The Sephora Story:
How’d Sephora get its unique name?
Well, the moniker dates back to the very roots of beauty, borrowing from the Biblical name Zipporah (Moses’ wife, an exceptional beauty) and the ancient Greek term for “pretty,” sephos (think: Persephone, the gorgeous daughter of the Greek god Zeus). These two words were merged to form a name that has become synonymous with beauty: Sephora.
Founded in France in 1993, Sephora was acquired by Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH) in 1997, and opened its first U.S. store in 1998 in New York City’s SoHo neighborhood.
