Review : SLM PETITE MINI PROTEIN BAR

Hmm.. it’s been a while since I updated on my protein/energy bars reviews.
I’ve not stopped eating them, but merely been so busy with Fit Fab Kitchen and Rouge Communications (my digital/blog advertising agency) that I’ve not had the chance to plan my postings properly.

Well, if you’ve missed out on the previous ones, here they are:

So now, next on my list is this SLM PETITE MINI PROTEIN BAR.
Considering how pink it is, there is no way any male would come near it. LOL.
Anyhow, at 35g with 9g of protein with less tan 2g of carbs, it does sound promising as a high protein snack.

Ok, you got to pardon me on the images.
I carry these bars around with me so to keep my gastric in check in case I ran out of food while I’m rushing about.
Obviously this one took quite a “beating” traveling around with me. LOL.

Tastewise it is pleasant enough, easy to eat minus the chalky taste commonly associated with protein bars.
If you study the ingredient list carefully, you would notice the addition of artificial sweeteners and a bit of flavouring which very well contributed to its “better taste“.
Its chocolate coating tasted natural enough.

Ingredients:  Well to be frank there aren’t that much of raspberries in it. But the first few ingredients are protein so that is the part that provides the 9g of protein.
Do note that each bar has 3.3g of fat.
**Do note that sorbitol & maltitol are sugar substitutes (artificially produced sweeteners) and polydextrose is a synthetic polymer of glucose – a food ingredient classified as soluble fiber by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration

Conclusion:
Do I like it?
Well, it was ok for the first try but the bar certainly didn’t make me feel like I would like to eat it again and again.
So this bar goes into the category of : “Ok. But nothing great.”

i like the pretty packaging … am always on the lookout for bars to try whenever i’m at the pharmacy picking out toothpaste, etc, but it’s usually the same bars that i’ve already tried. so it’s fun reading your experiences with these very different bars 🙂
