Thanks to Sean (eatdrinkkl.blogspot.com) of course for another great find in this PJ town! 🙂
I really enjoyed my lunch today munching on this uber-delicious banh mi. It was crammed fat with pickled vegetables, fried egg, pork ham, cilantro and spread with a layer of thick pork pate.
BELOW: OMG Banh Mi – RM11.20 each.
I requested for the OMG banh mi where everything was doubled. If you are a small eater, then the O School – basic (RM8.20) or O Sunny (RM9.20); which is an O School with added sunny side up egg should suffice.
Daniel, one of the owners who was around the time we were there was genuinely friendly and very chatty. It’s obvious he’s very excited of his new venture and takes pride in serving the best banh mi in town.
The options are either pork ham or lemongrass chicken for now but come this Saturday beef stew and BBQ pork would be making its debut at Obanhmi. I’m so excited and I think I might be able dropping in for dinner! 🙂
The key to god banh mi starts with the bread (or so I was told). The baguette here are baked fresh daily. Each lovely loaf boasts perfect crispy outer crust with soft, pillowy insides.
I thought it’s really value for money considering the size of each banh mi and the amount of ingredients cramped into its cavity. Each banh mi is assembled by order and dressed with housemade mayonnaise spread.
I love the thick layer of pork pate; also housemade. Almost everything (or should I say everything?) in the banh mi here is made on the premise!
For breakfast, drop in for their fresh just-out-of-the oven baguettes. Choose between condensed milk and a baguette for RM3.50 or with eggs for RM4.50. I sampled the condensed milk one and it was so addictive; warm crusty bread dipped in thick creamy sweet condensed milk. It’s a simple meal but one that guarantees a happy start to the day!
Daniel treated us to some Vietnamese spring rolls as well today. I was too stuffed by then to try it but we tapau-ed it back for the office for the others to try. I can’t wait for the fresh spring rolls! I’m definitely fonder of the non-fried variety.
Last but not least I have to make the disclaimer that I have never been to Vietnam and I have certainly not tasted any of the original banh mi on the streets of Vietnam.
However, I really enjoyed my banh mi here and my opinions here are made solely based on its taste.
Feel free to share with me your feedback on the banh mi here at Obanhmi if you have been to Vietnam. 🙂

yay! really glad to hear that you enjoyed the banh mi here. so far, so good! i’ll stay optimistic that they’ll be able to satisfy many more customers with their delicious banh mi for many more months to come (hopefully even years) 😀
Lovely find!
I’ll definitely drop in this week!
I dont really like mayo and if i recall correctly you also prefer to go without so was their mayo based sauce ok?
Gd morning Fiona!
Yeah it’s ok, creamy but not the plain mayo. Since it was my first time I ordered ‘as it is’ for a fair review. Next round, for sure ‘less mayo’! 😀
Delicious! I had one yesterday after you tweeted and it was good!
Can’t wait to visit for a BBQ pork and sunny-side egg banh mi…yay to fresh spring rolls too! =)
Just 4 more weeks yea? 🙂
I never missed this whenever in Vietnam or Cambodia. They just sell them in carts at the road side … tasty stuff and very fresh bread. Will be coming here to try it out soon 🙂
So how was the beef stew and BBQ pork?
Great find! I was there yesterday with friends and we really loved it! Thanks becky
Just had my O’Sunny. So I’m so happy
I tried their sandwich. It is not that great, You guy really don’t know what is a good banh mi. their pâté is terrible it is not the pâté that I tried in Vietnam. It is more like grounded Polk with five spices powder. The ham is not Vietnamese ham at all.
Hi Chia
I have written in THIS VERY POST ” Last but not least I have to make the disclaimer that I have never been to Vietnam and I have certainly not tasted any of the original banh mi on the streets of Vietnam.
However, I really enjoyed my banh mi here and my opinions here are made solely based on its taste.”
Thanks for your feedback anyhow. It’s good to know there are better version & I can’t wait to taste it when I’m in Vietnam.
Your pictures make me wanna try it all! Was the baguette too chewy tho?
Nope not chewy! 🙂
I think the home made mayo whatever they call are nasty. I don’t think it safe to eat. They just place their food out in a room temperature. Never come back again.
Yes, don’t re-visit if it doesn’t suit you. I’m sure everyone has their own definition of taste & it’s understandable that not everyone will like a certain F & B joint. 🙂
Are you kidding me, Rebecca? I think you lost your taste. The pâté and their home made mayo are NOT nice . It has an unpleasant smell, and I also think they not healthy. I would not feed this to my kids.
Hi Linda. TQ for your feedback.
Not sure if it was just your visit, but I have been here many times and had never experienced any unpleasant smell.
Also I understand that tastebuds for everyone varies, so if you don’t like it, it’s best not to re-visit. 🙂
I read about your review on Quick Bites at Publika, so I went there and tried their sandwiches. They also made their own fresh authentic vietnam baguettes. Their sandwiches are delicous and healthy. I had a chance to chat with the owner, I think he is Vietnanese American. They don’t have pork there. I ask him why does not he serve pork there. He replies that he has two shops in San Francisco, they have pork there but when he open the shop here , he would like all Malaysians can try the Vietnamese sandwiches.
I don’t like it. Not nice. The home made mayo and their pâté is not nice. I got a bad stomach pain after had lunch at obanhmishop.
