myBurgerLab Seapark, PJ – tuck into the best Burgers!

UPDATE:

Me and a bunch of foodie friend had 10 burgers at one go! 🙂 Pictures –> HERE!

I’m off to Singapore tomorrow! 😀

Singapore Blog Awards 2012

It’s going to be a blast. I will be meeting and mingling with bloggers from Hong Kong, Singapore, Philippines, etc in one of Singapore’s most prominent blog awards event. I’m so looking forward to improve my network and my blogging skills as there’s much to learn from everyone present there. After handling some international blogging campaigns via my company Rouge Communications, I can confidently state that blog advertising in the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Australia and other countries differs in varying degrees from Malaysia. These international bloggers has a different mindset when it comes to advertorials and blogging!

As in all things in life, improvement and change is permanent. A friend of mine recently took on bold changes in his career. From an engineer, he went on to become a videographer and the next thing I knew, he’s one of the masterminds behind a burger joint!

A cosy joint in Seapark, very near to the famous Nasi Lemak Maybank and on the same row as the “flying wan tan mee” stall, myBurgerLab is managed by young, enterprising and obviously assiduous entrepreneurs. While I’m consumed by the need to eat the best burgers available, they are obsessed with making the best burgers possible.

A lovely match I’ll say, made even better when Seapark is a mere 20 minutes drive away.

After almost 20 Ramadhan buffet reviews almost on a daily basis, I was relieved to have a night free to grab a bite here at myBurgerlab before my trip to Singapore. Strolling in at 730pm, the place was packed and the grill was busy.

The menu is simple and options are clearly explained. Should your IQ be low enough to require further explanation, a myBurgerlab “engineer” hovers nearby and chirpily offers assistance.

Beef burgers were never my favourite. Pork yes, and even lamb or chicken. Beef? They always tend to be dry and dense, unless it’s wagyu patty but wagyu is not your everyday burger! Well, not for most of us anyways.

myBurgerLab aims to make the burger eating experience right. They just want to be the joint that serves that simple, juicy but absolutely satisfying burger that’s easy on the wallet.

Hangover. RM16.

myBurgerLab Seapark, PJ -011

Being engineers, each component of the burger were analysed and experimented to their satisfaction before it hit the menu. And even after it’s on the menu, the improvements continues, with each upgraded version of burger being named 2.0, 3.0 as each time it gets an update.

Heck, this is starting to sound even better than Android! 😀

My Hangover beef burger is giving me a craving hangover now. The patty was cooked to the perfect degree of doneness, retaining its pinkish and juicy insides. Whoever who thought of drizzling maple syrup over the hashbrown is a genius! Savoury mushrooms and tangy sweet cherry tomatoes completed the ensemble. I added RM5 for fries and a soft drink and I must say the fries were so good that I nearly finished them all, to hell with diet and the no-carbs after 8pm rule!

Sniff sniff.. a foodie has got to inspect and verify the claims. A myBurgerLab staff told me the fries were tossed with rosemary herbs you see..

myBurgerLab Seapark, PJ -013

Passed! Yes there were rosemary in those freakinlicious fries! :DD

myBurgerLab Seapark, PJ -014

I couldn’t eat that much in one visit so I had to contend with only one beef and one chicken burger. For the fowl version, I opted for the Spicy Hawaiian (RM14), simply because I wondered how spicy can a chicken burger get since there weren’t any mention of chilli in its description on the board.

myBurgerLab Seapark, PJ -006

The first thing that hit my mind when I saw my burger was “Eh, why is the bun misshapen one??”  LOL.

But all was forgiven. After all, at myBurgerLab, these engineers bakes each bun daily in-house. The buns were a bit too sweet for my liking and I’m of opinion that it wasn’t  a good match with the patties but that could just be me nitpicking.

Here’s the innards of my Hawaiian Chicken burger. It was spicy but the spice was in the marinate of the chicken itself, not the orangy sauce you see below. Juicy cherry tomatoes, cheese and a thick slice of lightly grilled pineapple completes this savoury, spicy and sweet delightful burger.

Chomp chomp! Chowing down my burger and eyeing the kitchen for some secrets. 🙂

myBurgerLab Seapark, PJ -009

Let’s have an insight of the work area that churns out these delicious burgers shall we?

See this?

myBurgerLab Seapark, PJ -016

Well, it started out like this. Globs of well minced angus beef, given a few shakes of seasoning just before it meets the smoking grill.

On the grill, it was flattened out and grilled to perfect doneness.

Buns, cheese, sauces and so forth added according to order at another work area. Yup, all methodical and systematic.

Kudos to the team at myBurgerLab for the great work so far. Now, F & B business is a tiring and taxing field. Let’s hope the boys keep up the stamina and determination. I’ll like to see longer opening hours and perhaps even myBurgerLab branches in the near future! 🙂

    1. rebeccasaw

Yes, it’s a bit sweet though but glad to know it’s made fresh daily. That means no preservatives! 🙂

  11. Anon

Hi! I went over today at 10pm for my fresh burger buns craving, but there was a sign at the entrance that said “Sold Out!” to be my disappointment. The place looked packed, was totally surprised to see such brisk business at a pretty quiet street & an hour to it’s closing time. I’ll try again tomorrow, the charcoal buns looks so homemade & carb-y :D~~~ Yums. Wish there was fish/seafood burger as I’m a pescetarian, but I am glad they at least have a vegetarian option, the bella luna sounds like something I’d like.

    1. rebeccasaw

Oh vegetarian burgers can be as satisfying too! I myself is a vegetarian – only 3 days a week 🙂
So yes, the vegetarian burgers were one of my options, but since it was my first time, I decided to go for the meats first!
The street is quiet but you know Malaysians la, got food will go one! 😛

      1. Anon

Hi again! Vegetarianism is a diet that doesn’t include any meat/seafood at any time of the week. I think the less misleading term for the occasional meat eater would be perhaps part-time vegetarian. There are some who are weekday vegetarians & call themselves just that.

      2. rebeccasaw

Ok, I’m occasional vegetarian then 😛

  12. Anon

Hi! This place not only offers delicious burgers but excellent customer service, above par Malaysian standard! I normally don’t give feedback to restaurants in Malaysia, as it often ends up affecting my dining experience when I am subjected to their string of excuses which is often followed by neither no/minimal remedial action nor apology. It has happened far too many times that I’ve almost resigned to the fact that it is the “culture” here. Back to the story, since the staff at myburgerlab seemed genuinely courteous, I had decided to inform them of a potential long term issue with the burger I ordered, half of my bun disintegrated. Shortly after, I was pleasantly surprised when a full replacement was offered, I was happy to settle for just their chewy charcoal bun. There was also a follow up to check if the remedial action was satisfactory & the best part was my ears & time was spared from any excuse 🙂 The staff there did almost everything right to fix the problem, kudos to them. To the myburgerlab guys, for future reference on remedial action, my experience with restaurants in Korea, they always include an additional item with the replacement; perhaps a basket of fries goes a long way in goodwill. If you ever come across this experience, they call the item offered “serbis” aka service. To end this, we need more young businessmen like the myburgerlab guys who practices & hires/trains staff who understands excellent customer service. Keep it up! Btw, I am commenting here instead of their Facebook page because I don’t use Facebook. So, Rebecca, if you could pass this message on FB to them would be appreciated. Thanks!

    1. rebeccasaw

Oh my, that’s SO GOOD TO know! Thanks Anon for taking the time to explain, give feedback and coming here to drop in your constructive feedback! I truly appreciate it and I’m sure the guys behind myBurgerLab does too! I’ll rely the message, no worries! :DD

  13. Anon

Just like to add, I heard of myburgerlab from your blog 🙂 & was the same Anon that had commented earlier.
