Lately I’ve been taking the chill pill.
I focused instead on health and took some time off for rest and relaxation after the recent bouts of back-to-back travels.
In December I had long days of shoot with Nokia for The Influencer, a youtube reality series which threw us grueling challenges (watch the video –> HERE) which pushed our physical and mental limits.
I accepted less food reviews and events invites, deciding to take it slow since I had no time to update my blog.
However, if there’s anything that I didn’t reduce, it was my workouts. I continued the intensity of my sessions; (3-4 times a week at the gym/runs) and recently Celebrity Fitness added 24 sessions of Personal Training for me.
I went to the movies more often and started to subscribe to online channels.
One of it is MaxMan.tv, a channel for men but somehow I found the shows to be up my alley. Hey, I know at first glance it could be interpreted as a site for men and well, men.
Movies involving martial arts, drama, fast cars, sexy babes and awesome weaponry aren’t exactly female oriented.
But I actually like these shows! I like fast cars and I like to see hot bodies; both male and females.
Male for obvious reasons and females for motivation. It pushes me harder in the gym cos damn, I want those legs, abs and ass! 🙂
But other than those masochist shows, there are intelligent dramas, rib tickling comedies and thrillers. All online, and all free. All pretty good movies too!
I got hooked on a few of them and had been diligently following the episodes ever since.
Curious to know more, I had an interview arranged with the founder and CEO of Mexman TV, Mr Ahmad Izmir.
Being the founder of an all-men online channel I had expected a macho man of course. And a manly man.
He didn’t disappoint. Even for our interview he had shunned the idea of a cuppa and dainty sandwiches in favour of his boxing gym. *Gulps*.
Thankfully I’m hardly the wallflower, and even dressed up for the occasion and threw some punches while waiting for him to arrive.
His personal trainer had him warmed up and the intensive one hour started soon after. Watching him, I was convinced that this is a man that walk the talk.
I was glad that he isn’t one of those more brawn than brains, big talk and chauvinist kind.
The boxing action begins!
We chatted for a while about his plans and his achievements so far. Suffice to say Maxman TV is doing very well. MAX MAN users can enjoy their web and OTT service in Malaysia and selected videos in Singapore, Indonesia, and Philippines, and Hong Kong.
You can watch it on your computers or for mobile devices download the Max Man TV app which is available for iOs devices: iPads, iPods, iPhones, Tablets, Androids.
All content are FREE and will continue to be free; he says.
In fact, Maxman TV has ventured to producing their own content via their newly launched YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/mxmantv
When I spoke to Izmir the YouTube site wasn’t launched as yet. He told me to stay tuned and promised that the content of their channel would be entirely different from the main channel.
And again I found that he has kept to his word.
The 1st video was the now-famous “(Original) Girl fights back snatch thief with a knee to the stomach which had garnered over 1.6 million views.
It was amazing. 1.6 million views!
When it first surfaced on social platforms I watched it in shock but I did thought it looked a bit like it was an act for I could see that there weren’t any real force applied in her moves. Soon I saw the amount of shares on almost every social media platform.
Everyone was talking about it. Everyone applauded the girl for kicking ass.
I saw that it was shared by MaxMan TV YouTube account and guessed that it was by MaxMan TV and I was right! 😀
Germaine Yeap, the girl in the video had since came forward and explained about the video. You can watch and hear her out here –> http://www.youtube.com/user/mxmantv
Germaine explained that the video aims to promote crime awareness and to remind women to always remain vigilant at all times.
However her best message was ‘”if you’re being mugged, just let go of your bag and hope they (the assailants) will leave you alone. Only engage if you really have no choice.”
That is the best advice. Seriously. Unless you have martial arts background and you have been keeping yourself fighting fit, DO NOT RISK YOUR LIFE. Don’t be a heroine. A dead “heroine” ain’t worth much. I have had martial arts training before and I can tell you that it’s not easy to try to bring down an assailant, especially if he’s stronger (possibly on drugs) and desperate. He will and would do anything to save himself.
Germaine continued by saying that if you witness a crime, help out by calling the police. Again I concurred.
Don’t be a pussy. BE A MAN. Even for the ladies. Call for help. Use your smartphone to CALL THE AUTHORITIES, NOT take video or pictures for your facebook!
And lastly she explained that in this video she fought back because she had quickly assessed the situation with her Muay Thai training and she knew she could take him down. Germaine however, backed off when she saw another assailant coming in to help. I felt myself nodding in approval at that.
I liked what Maxman TV is doing so far with their Youtube channel. Their first video is alike a community service message and from the comments and feedback so far Germaine had obviously increased awareness on women safety and rekindled interest in martial arts/self defence for women.
I think Maxman TV is COOL! Do you?
Last but not least, here’s another original production by Maxman TV youtube – “Pro boxer dares strangers to punch him in the face”. Watch it!
Do YOU think you could have hit him?
