Sony unveiled its latest Full Frame cameras at the KL Photography Festival 2012 yesterday!
Note: Launch Photo – From Left, Masahiko Ishida, Head of Digital Imaging Dept and Kikuo Okura, Managing Director of Sony Malaysia.
.A total of 6 new cameras was shown to visitors and media including the much anticipated Sony Full Frame cameras; SLT- A99, DSC- RX1 and NEX-VG900. I was personally more interested in the Sony NEX range, being a faithful Sony NEX user since I was introduced to it from the Sony NEX C3, NEX-3 and the NEX-5 series.
I have used the Sony 5-N, tested out the Sony NEX-7 (which is way awesome!) and currently I’m exploring the world with my Sony NEX F3!
At the launch of the Sony Cyber-shot DSC RX100, I was tempted with its low light capabilities and compact size. But there were whispers from some Sony fans that night that Sony will be launching their new NEX series, so I held back.
True enough, Sony revealed yesterday the Sony NEX 5R – RM2699 kit lens, RM3499 Twin lens and Sony Nex-6 RM3299 kit lens, RM4099 Twin Lens.
The Sony NEX 5R – RM2699 kit lens, RM3499 Twin lens was really nice to hold and light!
The Sony Nex-6 RM3299 kit lens, RM4099 Twin Lens is more solid due to its heavier body alike the Sony NEX-7.
Other than the NEX series, Sony’s latest A99, the flagship A-mount 35 mm full-frame camera took the centre stage at the Kuala Lumpur Photography Festival 2012. There was even a special Product Experience by Special Guest – Gary Friedman, a professional photographer who has traveled the world with his cameras and runs the stock image website FriedmanArchives.com.
He has also written several highly-acclaimed e-books on digital imaging, all aimed at demystifying the complexities of digital cameras. His photography and writing has been published in magazines, newspapers, and books worldwide, and he is associate editor of CameraCraft magazine, the antithesis of your typical photo magazine. He was also listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for building the world’s smallest telephone way back in 1980 (before cell phones or cordless phones were around).
His accolades aside, I enjoyed his “workshop” because he made it fun. We had quite a few good laughs as he quite a witty and lively presenter.
After his session, some of us took the opportunity to fiddle a bit with the cameras on display. All of the models launched will only be available in Malaysia from beginning to mid November this year.
All of us were rather taken in with this HUGE, 5kg Sony telephoto lens that’s said to be worth RM40K +. This thing is HEAVY I tell you!
The specs are rather long for each so I won’t be listing them down here. Do download via these links –
