IKEA Curry Puffs – Perfect local tea time snack!

Many thanks to the installation of Malaysia’s new King, the 14th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, TODAY, Wednesday, 11 April 2012 that I have the luxury to sleep in, go to the gym, clean my pending list-to-do and update some blogposts!

This is a unique installation of Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah as the King for the SECOND time. This is the first time that a Sultan or Ruler has been re-elected as the Head of State since Malaysia gained independence in 1957.

Tuanku Abdul Halim, who was proclaimed the fifth Yang di-Pertuan Agong in 1970 when he was 42, has been elected to be the 14th King at the age of 84.
He is the FIRST ruler to hold the position twice, as well as the oldest elected to the office.

I personally saw the Queen during the Stylo event (HERE) and I find her really warm and approachable. She’s also very young! 🙂

Anyhow, back to today’s holiday.
I’m not sure how you guys are enjoying your holidays, but I’m sure it involves a fair amount of good food, sleep and perhaps a movie or some shopping right? 🙂

Mine better part of the day was spent running errands. And now at 4pm I’m thinking of food for tea time! 😀
My usual favourites are curry puffs, fried banana fritters, fried potato balls, donuts and cekodok (nuggets of banana & flour batter).

But if I’m in the Curve area, I’ll hop into Ikea for one thing. No, not the meatballs but the delicious curry puffs.
At RM1.00/piece, it’s a real steal.

The queue is always long, which is a testament of its popularity. Each crispy crescent is piping hot and swelling with the tasty mix of potatoes, chicken bits and hard-boiled egg; which has a well balance of spices. The thin pastry is not overly greasy either.

So are you a fan of Ikea curry puffs as well? Or it’s fried bananas, cekodok and potato fritters for you? :DD
