HP Folio13 Ultrabook, HP ENVY 14 Spectre @ the HP Consumer Product Launch 2012

It has been a busy year for the tech brands, especially with the recent wave of tablets, smartphones and ultrabooks. One tech brand after another launched their respective models, each competing for today’s finicky consumers’ favour and dollar.
One particular tech product that I followed closely is the ultrabooks. I have an ultrabook obsession and bought almost every single ultrabook there is in the market especially if there’s one offered with a media discount.

Here is moi with my Toshiba Protege Z830.

The first to launch was the Acer Aspire S3, of which I was an evangelist (“was” because the contract has ended since Jan) and I’m still a faithful user until today.
For RM2599, I thought the Acer S3 is superb value for money; even taking into account the annoying keyboard and the lack of SSD.

I have ordered my Asus Zenbook, the limited edition Rose Gold coloured one, i7 of which I’m expecting it next month. Other than the Dell ultrabook, I have fiddled with almost all ultrabook models on the market.

Last week, I finally got my grubby hands on the HP Folio 13 (which at 1.5kg, IMHO is heavy for an ultrabook). However, the build is undoubtedly solid, as with all HP products.

A full 14-inch screen inside a 13.3-inch body plus the HP Spectre’s high-definition (HD) HP Radiance Display offers some of the industry’s highest resolution and richest color for better brightness and wider viewing angles than traditional notebook displays.

Since it’s a CONSUMER Ultrabook (vs the Folio which is a business ultrabook), it comes equipped with rich entertainment features like matching audio-grade speaker mesh and Beats Audio, an exclusive, high-performance technology developed by HP and Beats by Dr. Dre.

Built-in HP Wireless Audio turns any home into a concert hall, allowing users to stream uncompressed audio to up to four external devices or directly to any KleerNet -compatible device.

An HP Radiance Backlit keyboard provides outstanding illumination using individual LEDs dedicated to each keycap. The keyboard works with an advanced proximity sensor to intelligently sense a user’s presence, lighting up when a user approaches and dimming down after he or she leaves.

looks quite bulky for an ultrabook eh ? or is it just in the pictures?

      U got it right Adam!
I thought 1.5kg and the thickness an overkill too, considering Toshiba, Lenovo and Acer a re just tipping the scales at 1.3 or less…

gosh, i gotta admit, i’m so techno-idiotic, if someone asked me to describe or define an ultrabook, i probably wouldn’t really be able to! 😀

    1. rebeccasaw

Ahh.. most people can’t actually so no worries on that one 😛

I’m waiting for Acer S5 to launch probably in summer… the review seems quite impressive… but still thinking whether I should wait for Windows 8 to launch or just go ahead and buy one ultrabook with Windows 7…. in dilemma now….

Oh… tech moves so fast, it’s alws better to buy the latest..but still, Win7 is fine enough if youre not to techie. On top of that, Wn8 might have instabilities and patches and etc.
So Win7 is already stable now

Of course, if the producer deals with all the well known musicians in
the industry you will find higher chances that he produces quality music and sounds.
We buy music everyday. You could also sell your beats here, however you must be an Exclusive Member to do so.
