Good dim sum @ Dian Huo Xin Wo, The Grand, Kelana Damansara Suite

Back in 2015 I visited Dian Huo Xin Wo for their steamboat and left wow-ed with the quality meat and seafood balls offered with their steamboat.
I also remembered the century eggs – such creamy molten yolks. The best century eggs around PJ for sure!
You can view the images of the meat, seafood balls and the century eggs HERE. Though handmade, the sizes are consistent – what you see is what you get.

The same steamboat menu can be found in their latest outlet in The Grand, Kelana Damansara Suite. And now, Dian Huo Xin Wo offers dim sum too!

Similar meat and seafood balls made their appearance on the dim sum menu, though of lesser variety. Then there are fried dim sum and the steamed baos. All in all, not an extensive dim sum menu, but it covers the basics with some baos.
There are no chee cheong fun or porridge or egg tarts though.

The char siew bao deserves a mention. The skin is of the chewier type, and slightly off-white. Those who prefer the old fashioned baos would enjoy this, while those who are used to the fluffier, blinding white version like those in hotels may not approve of this as much.

Personally I like this better as it reminded me of old times. The char siew fillings were generous, but overly sweet for me. Maybe I’ll try their lotus paste and salted egg yolk (yes, two in one) bao next time. Besides the char siew and lotus paste + liusha bao, Dian Huo Xin Wo offers red bean and basic salted egg yolk bao as well.

On the whole, the dim sum here is good though pricier than the norm. We are looking at almost RM4-10 per basket. However if you are seeking quality pork dim sum with freshly made on premise items, this is it.
Their dim sum is available for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

For now, take advantage of their current promo – a basket of 3 plump siew mai (pork meat dumplings) for only RM2 with any other order of dim sum. Unlimited orders allowed! 🙂
