Conrad Tokyo – A Review of my stay in the Bay View Room – #HiltonHotelDeals

From the bustling streets of Shinjuku we headed over to glitzy Ginza.

Ginza - conrad tokyo

A mere 15 mins stroll away is the cosmopolitan Conrad Tokyo, one of Tokyo’s finest hotel. I was hosted for 2 nights here and finally had the chance to be cossetted within its walls.

The Hilton Tokyo has 816 rooms. In comparison the Conrad Tokyo has 290 rooms. The magnitude of Hilton Tokyo was lost on me due to the short period of stay, but for the Conrad, I had time to soak in the place.

Sophisticated and luxurious, the hotel is a masterpiece of contemporary design. Guests with a keen eye for details and art would truly appreciate this hotel, for within its floors are over 200 artwork on display throughout both its public areas and private rooms.
These artwork are commissioned from 23 of Japan’s leading master craftmen and artists to reflect the hotel’s waterfront and historical garden location.

Perhaps the most famous and can’t-miss-it-piece is this “Purification 1” by Nobuyuki Tanaka, just at the entrance of Conrad Tokyo.

Moving pass the lobby we took the lift up to the  28th floor. That’s because the Conrad Tokyo is located on floors 28 through 37 in a high-rise building in the Shiodome area of Tokyo. The reception is on the 28th floor, sharing the space with the bar and lounge, 4 restaurants and 3 meeting rooms.

Artwork: The lift area, where a Japanese brush painting adorned one wall.

Another absorbing art piece at the reception and lobby area on the 28th floor.

Lovely sense of space through clever use of heights and open columns as dividers between the lounge and the reception area.

Thank you Maria for this shot while waiting to be checked-in. 😀

The TwentyEight Bar & Lounge serves as a place to mingle for afternoon tea and functions as a bar in the evenings with live music performances. Both day and night the floor to ceiling glass offers unparalleled views of the city.

I was told that the Afternoon Tea is pretty popular as well, and that’s not surprising given the panoramic views.

conrad tokyo - hiltonhoteldeals - review rebecca saw blog (14)

The check-in process was very Japanese; efficient, swift and polite. My room for the next 2 nights was 2 floors above.
Overlooking both Tokyo Bay and the Hamarikyu Gardens this  Executive Room Bay View room spans 48m2 with a going rate of 47,000 yen – 92,000 yen (RM1500.00 – RM2940.00). This includes Executive Lounge access, which is located on the 37th floor.

I’m extremely fond of sunlight and these high mirrors which allows plenty of natural light keeps my mood perky throughout my stay. A long chaise lounge by the floor to ceiling window serves its excellent purpose to enjoy the view.

Welcome treats of Conrad chocolates and fruits.

conrad tokyo - hiltonhoteldeals - review rebecca saw blog (62)

The room has two queen beds (no more king beds available as the Conrad was full on the dates we were hosted but I didn’t mind.) I tried of course, like I said in my video, to put both together so I could roll from one end to the other but the bed were solid and wouldn’t budge.
Defeated, I planted myself on the bed nearer to the window.

No doubt the most outstanding feature in the room is see-through bathroom from the living/bedroom area of the room. For the modest, you can choose to close it via the electronically operated blinds. The control for it is in the bathroom, by the vanity area.
A few buttons allows you to control the amount of “coverage/display” the blind provides.

conrad tokyo - hiltonhoteldeals - review rebecca saw blog (50)

I thought it’s rather sexy, and I left the blinds up all the time, but the housekeeping does lower it to about 80% each evening after they turned down the beds.

The living area had a small table with a white leather office chair, of which where I did most of my work during the stay. Right behind me are the powerpoints, with an international power adapter thoughtfully provided. WIFI was complimentary and frankly wasn’t really as speedy as I would have liked, especially at night.
For those who can’t live without TV, a 37″ plasma TV, satellite channels, DVD player and Video On Demand should suffice.

As usual I checked if there are powerpoints beside the beds, which sadly there aren’t any. There are however; a small torchlight provided, individual controls for the side lights and reading lights, and a docking station for presumably your iProducts.

There is however, a lone point on the wall just outside of the bathroom, which I reserved for charging my rented portable WIFI device.

A hotel of this class would have a Pillow Menu of course, providing choice of pillows are varying degree of firmness and materials – tempur, buckwheat, feather, etc. I ordered 2, a firm one for my sensitive neck and another softer one to hug to sleep. 😀

The Japanese seems to take their whiskeys seriously, the room had a little whiskey bar aside from the mini bar!

And of course the usual of snacks, coffee, sugar (Conrad packaged!) and tea.

conrad tokyo - hiltonhoteldeals - review rebecca saw blog (47)

Brochures and informative magazines are available for reference so anything else you may need to know of the hotel, its surroundings, menu, F &B outlets etc are within reading reach.

If you did remember there was a tea making set in my Hilton Tokyo suite (other than the usual sachets, cups and a hot water boiler) and here at the Conrad I had this pretty clay set.

conrad tokyo - hiltonhoteldeals - review rebecca saw blog (49)

Another drawer revealed an ice bucket (which was filled with ice cubes and left on the chaise lounge table every evening without me having to ask), wine, glasses and kettle.

conrad tokyo - hiltonhoteldeals - review rebecca saw blog (48)

The yukata here was as fancy as Hilton’s but I wore it anyways. It’s rather plain with the word Conrad embossed on it.

conrad tokyo - hiltonhoteldeals - review rebecca saw blog (59)

The large bathroom features a standalone soaking tub in the middle of the space, with separate enclosures for both the toilet and the shower, plus a vanity with his/her sinks. Thick Conrad robes hung on the wall and fluffy towels (hand, face and bath) were within easy reach.
PS: The illuminated mirror is a nice touch don’t you think? 🙂

While bathrooms are usually in white, I find that the black floor tiles worked nicely in this space. For the loo we have one of the typical Japanese electronic toilets which has the seat warmed up all the time, a good thing when the weather is cold.
Both rainshower and the hand held shower are provided, water pressure is fabulous and the heater is quick to warm up as well.

One doesn’t expect anything less than the full works when you’re in a hotel of this class. The amenities didn’t disappoint and you get everything that you may need from cotton buds to hairband (seriously!), razor & shaving gel, toothbrush set complete with toothpaste x 2 sets, cotton towel for scrub, mouthwash, the basics of shower gel, lotion, shampoo and conditioner.

Here’s a little tip for you.  All Conrad Hotels worldwide are connected to the Conrad App.

conrad app - rebecca saw blog

Just search for it on your app store (for iOS & Android) and install it on your smartphone. Once installed, sign in with your confirmation number and name. No matter which Conrad you’re at, the app would be able to identify you in the system!

conrad app - rebecca saw blog (12)

Truly making clever use of technology isn’t it? 🙂

conrad app - rebecca saw blog (2)

Though I was in Conrad Tokyo, the app shows the news and social media updates around the world, in regards to Conrad Hotels of course.

News.

conrad app - rebecca saw blog (3)

Further exploration shows the different sections of interest – are you looking for transportation around your hotel, nearby attractions, etc . Just swipe from left to right.

conrad app - rebecca saw blog (5)

I was informed that you could literally order and make request for anything on the app, to the point that verbal communication with any Conrad staff is unnecessary. I personally tested out ordering amenities from the app. Under the Request Item section I requested for aromatherapy oils and additional amenities.

Below: Just select on the item you want and send a request.

My request: Amenity Tara Smith.

Barely 15 minutes later my orders arrived. Here’s my aromatherapy oil, a Shiseido vanity set which includes a make up cleansing gel and 2 different bathroom amenities sets – Tara Smith & Shanghai Tang.

Like I mentioned before, there are reading materials available in the room which is a good thing as I normally read before nodding off.

I found this amusing though, perhaps some guests had dropped theirs into the bathtub??

The Conrad Tokyo bears witness to over 200 weddings this year alone in their gorgeous chapel & it’s 2 grand ballrooms.
I was lucky to witness one myself while wondering around the hotel. The glow & happiness radiating from the lovely couple really made my day.
All marriages should be like this, lovey-dovey on this very day till the last. 😀

On the last day I went up to the Executive Lounge for a light snack before checking out. The Executive Lounge is located on the 37th floor and provides guests with breakfast in the morning, light snack and drinks throughout the day and hors d’ouvres and desserts at night. The lounge offers a city-view, which I had some time to gaze out to for a while as I rested my legs before heading out to Ginza.

Sadly I missed out on the Fitness Club and Pool but I was really too tired! Anyways, morning walk in the Tsukiji Market counts for something right? 😀

Conrad Tokyo
1-9-1 Higashishinbashi, Minato
Tokyo 105-7337, Japan

Directions:
2 stations : Shiodome ( 2 mins walk), EXIT 9 & Shimbashi station (5 – 8  mins walk). t first, it is quite a maze to get to the hotel, as there are over- and underpasses all over the place, but the friendly Japanese will gladly help you with directions.

Thank you again Hilton Hotels for hosting us for 3D2N. The hospitality, upkeep of the rooms and food quality was apparent during my stay. It clearly defines its accolades as being one of the top hotels in Tokyo. 😀

Tokyo, I’ll be back!

I like the kawaii Conrad bears and the thoughts Conrad Hotel put into everything from toilet seats to reading materials. ‘Pampering customers’ should be their middle name

  15. LauraLeia

Everything is so gorgeous, it’s hard to just comment on one thing, lol! I’d have to say the scenery is just stunning, and the mobile app thingy is really convenient (especially for people like me who are scared to even pick up the phone to make calls lol)

  16. Sherry Chang

I astonished with the mobile apps have in Conrad Tokyo. If without smartphone, there are no survive in high class hotel by picking up phone and call room service. A new high tech from this hotel that can make order and check out their hotel news.
