In conjunction with the celebration of the Turkey National Day on 28th October 2011, the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey is hosting the Turkish Culinary & Cultural Week, in collaboration with the Royale Chulan Hotel of Kuala Lumpur, and Etihad Airways.

The Arrival of guest One-Star Michelin Chef, Baptiste Fournier at Mezze Bistro

ONE-STAR MICHELIN CHEF, BAPTISTE FOURNIER VISITS MEZZE BISTRO.

Fournier, a name synonymous with wines and now food, plays guest chef at Mezze Bistro, Damansara Heights.

Come this October to Mezze Bistro, to experience the whimsical but précise style of top Chef, Baptiste Fournier who is currently helming the La Tour, a one-star Michelin restaurant in the beautiful village of Sancerre in the Loire Valley, France.
Baptiste Fournier’s cuisine is honest, fresh and surprising.

Voted as one of the top 6 young chefs in France by the famed Gault Millau guide, Baptiste took over the helm of the executive chef role from his father, Daniel at the family-owned La Tour at a young age of 29.

Baptiste trained under the watchful eyes of famed chefs such as Alain Passard, one of the best chefs in Paris from three-star Michelin restaurant, L’Arpege and Guy Savoy, another three-star Michelin Chef of his namesake restaurant. Baptiste has taken the food scene in Sancerre by storm with his cutting edge style and use of fresh ingredients. Without a doubt, strong connections with L’Arpege are apparent in his food.

Wine For Asia 2011 – I’m going to Singapore!!

Last year, I was at Vintry’s, Jaya 33 for the Wine For Asia 2010 (post here ) launch. I didn’t know much about this annual event back then. Nor do I know much about wines.
Today, I’m much more well-versed with the wines of the world, having been exposed to many wine pairing dinners and wine events over the course of the year. And this year, I will be attending the Wine For Asia 2011 on Oct 28th and the Wine Fiesta on Oct 29th 2011!

WINE FOR ASIA 2011 – An exciting programme awaits you!

Wine For Asia 2011 is  Asia’s most comprehensive international wine exhibition and it will be held on 27-28 October 2011, followed by its extension, Wine Fiesta @ Wine For Asia 2011 on 29 October 2011.
These events, featuring over 300 participants from 20 countries are poised to attract over 3,000 trade visitors from the region during trade days, and 5,000 visitors for the last day.

Martell Pairing Dinner at Four Seas Restaurant – Jalan Bangkung, Bangsar

Would you have thought that a Martell /Cognac pairing dinner is possible?
I for one, wouldn’t have. Blame it on tradition, but cognac has always came across to me as an “old man’s” drink. Prestigious, elegant and snooty. A drink over cigars and poker yes, but not eggplants & spare ribs.
